	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>Our position remains unchanged: we continue to recognise the sovereign right of the Republic of Cyprus to exploit the oil and gas in its internationally agreed Exclusive Economic Zone.</p><p>With reference to Turkey's planned drilling, the position of the UK is that, in line with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, exploratory drilling should not proceed in any area where sovereignty is under dispute. We have called on Turkey not to drill in this area. Sir Alan Duncan had made this clear to the Turkish Ambassador in London and the British Ambassador to Ankara has engaged with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urge de-escalation. The UK trade preference scheme will grant duty-free, quota-free access to Least Developed Countries, including Burkina Faso, upholding a target in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.</p><p> </p><p>Currently the trade agreement between the EU and 16 West African States, including Burkina Faso, has not been signed by all of the West African states and is therefore not in force. This includes health and safety in the workplace and the control of exposure to carcinogens and mutagens. The UK has a tradition of exceeding EU standards. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 has led to the United Kingdom having one of the best records on health and safety at work in the world.
