Officials from the Department facilitated conversations between Highways England and the local Highway Authority, Nottingham City Council, so that the effects of the emergency closure of the A52 Clifton Bridge could be managed as carefully as possible. The Secretary of State has not discussed this matter with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Highways England continue to collaborate closely with the Local Highways Authority.
