star this property answer text <p>Operators are required to report certain incidents to the MCA and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB). The MCA will liaise with the operator directly and no formal reports are published.</p><p> </p><p>Between the beginning of 2010 and the end of 2018, the MAIB received reports of 44 accidents and incidents on the River Thames in the Greater London area that involved vessels in the Thames Clipper fleet and 190 accidents and incidents involving other passenger vessels on the Thames (excluding large sea-going vessels e.g. cruise ships). Investigations are carried out where the MAIB believes there are lessons for the industry to learn and then publishes reports on its investigations online.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As Minister responsible for shipping matters, I have regular discussions with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) about its work.</p><p> </p><p>The MCA developed an impact assessment on its proposals for older domestic passenger ships which has been updated as new information is received, in particular from the public consultations. The MCA has been in contact with the Competition and Markets Authority to discuss the proposals and has included a Competition Impact Assessment element within the main impact assessment.</p><p> </p><p>The proposal is progressing through the normal regulatory scrutiny process.</p><p> </p> more like this

Consultees were invited to comment on the validity of the analysis in the impact assessment and encouraged to provide information that would help to strengthen this. star this property answer text <p>Officials from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) last met with London Operators on 24 October 2019, which was the most recent occurrence of the routine biannual London Operator’s meeting.</p><p> </p><p>The MCA has also held 5 Workshops on the proposals since 2016, supplemented by updates and discussions at the regular Domestic Passenger Ship Steering Group which includes industry representation from across the UK.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
