The aim of creating a National Academy is to build an evidence base and promote research into this important area, in order to help the National Health Service become a pioneer for social prescription.</p><p>Following a roundtable with a wide range of stakeholders held earlier this year, the Academy Management Board has been established to help shape the National Academy. The first meeting of the Board was held last month. A range of organisations are represented on the Board. No date has been agreed for a further meeting as of yet, however negotiations are ongoing between Vertex, NHS England and NHS Improvement and NICE.</p><p>Cystic fibrosis can have a devastating effect on the lives of those who suffer from it, and those close to them, and the Government wants to see patients access innovative treatments at a cost-effective price for the NHS. The Government fully supports NICE and NHS England in seeking to ensure access for patients to effective and innovative medicines at a price that represents value to the NHS, and it is not for Ministers to intervene in this process. NHS England published its Long Term Plan Implementation Framework on 5 July 2019. The projected funding for gambling clinics was not separately identified and will be provided at a later date.</p><p>The first National Health Service gambling clinic for children will open this year as part of a new network of services for addicts being rolled out.
