In addition, all Local Authorities in Great Britain and four in Northern Ireland have pledged to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant.</p><p> </p><p>Broadening support for the Covenant is a top priority for the Ministerial Covenant and Veterans Board and the Armed Forces Covenant annual report outlines the progress we have made.</p> more like this

However, latest figures from the Home Office for all types of terrorism cases (which includes Foreign Terrorist Fighters) show that last year 84 people were tried following charges brought by the CPS for terrorism-related offences, resulting in 76 convictions. We know that offenders serving short sentences often have long offending histories, as well as multiple and complex needs. In cases of the most persistent offenders, the evidence shows they are 36% more likely to re-offend where they have received a short custodial sentence rather than a court order. Community penalties can address underlying behaviour, answer mental health and alcohol or drug misuse needs and provide reparation for the benefit of the wider community.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Air Commodore Clarke was a great friend and ambassador of the Royal Air Force and a truly remarkable man.</p><p> </p><p>Air Commodore Clarke was a member of a World War Two Lancaster aircrew, and one of the last surviving prisoners of the Stalag Luft III Prisoner of War camp in Poland at the time of the great escape.</p><p> </p><p>Following a distinguished career in the RAF, he worked tirelessly as Chairman of the Bomber Command Association, not to mention his support for the RAF Association, RAF Benevolent Fund and the Air Cadets. His courage in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all, and I know he will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>A new Chair and CEO were appointed to the Academies Enterprise Trust during 2016-17 and they presented a comprehensive improvement plan to the department in early 2017. This plan was assessed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency to put in place a recovery process that underpinned education provision with strong financial management and oversight. This included improving governance of the trust, restructuring of central service teams, stronger financial and budgeting controls, reshaping school improvement structures and impact on educational outcomes. As a result of this assessment and supported by the National Schools Commissioner, additional funding was provided to the Trust<strong>.</strong></p><p> </p> more like this
