star this property answer text <p>Leaving the European Union with a deal remains the Government’s top priority; however, as a responsible Government we are planning for every possible outcome, including ‘no deal’. The Department has published guidance to industry and the health and care system to allow them to make informed plans and preparations. This is available on GOV.UK.</p><p> </p><p>We are confident that, if everyone does what they need to do, the supply of medicines and other medical products, including methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine, will be uninterrupted.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has put in place a multi-layered approach to minimise any supply disruption:</p><p>- securing, via the Department for Transport, additional roll on roll off freight capacity (away from the short straits crossings to Dover and Folkestone) for goods to continue to come into the United Kingdom from 29 March;</p><p>- asking industry to build up stockpiles in the UK before 29 March;</p><p>- buying extra warehouse space for the additional stock to be held in;</p><p>- supporting companies in booking space on aeroplanes for products which require an immediate shipment due to short shelf-life, including medical radioisotopes, or specific storage conditions;</p><p>- making changes to, or clarifications of, certain regulatory requirements so that companies can continue to sell their products in the UK even if we have no deal;</p><p>- strengthening the processes and resources used to deal with shortages in the event that they do occur.</p><p> </p><p>There is cross-Government agreement that all medicines and medical products will be prioritised on these alternative routes to ensure that the flow of all these products may continue unimpeded. For any products that require air freight, we are continuing to work with suppliers to ensure this continues as normal.</p>

star this property answer text <p>NHS England consulted on proposed contracting arrangements for Integrated Care Providers (ICP) between August and October 2018, and is finalising its response to the consultation. NHS England will publish its response in due course. No contracts will be entered into before the response has been published. Any award of the contract will be subject to successful completion of the Integrated Support and Assurance Process (ISAP).</p><p> </p><p>On 13 February, the Department laid The Amendments Relating to the Provision of Integrated Care Regulations 2019. The instrument makes changes to regulations which are considered necessary to support the introduction of proposed new contractual arrangements for the provision of integrated health and care services under an ICP contract. The instrument is subject to the negative resolution procedure.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In August, the Department asked suppliers to ensure they have plans in place to air freight short shelf-life medicines, including medical radioisotopes, to avoid any border delays that may arise at the end of March in the event of a ‘no deal’ exit from the European Union. We continue to work closely with industry in considering how the Department may support suppliers in making arrangements to meet this expectation, and with NHS England to monitor medicines costs to the National Health Service. Any increase to the list price of a branded medicine may only be made with the agreement of the Department.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following public consultation, the Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) is planning to raise its annual fees by £16. If adopted, the HCPC’s annual registration fee will rise from £90 to £106 a year from October 2019. The HCPC registration fees will remain the lowest of any of the United Kingdom-wide health and care regulators. Registration fees are tax-deductible and this fee rise will amount to just over £1 a month extra for most of the HCPC’s registrants.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has made no assessment of the potential effect on staffing levels of the changes to the HCPC’s registration fees from October 2019. The HCPC is independent of Government, funded by registrants’ fees on a costs recovery basis.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The National Implementation Framework, to be published in the spring, will support local areas as they develop their implementation plans. Local implementation plans will provide staff, patients, the public and other stakeholders with the opportunity to help local organisations determine how to achieve the service and outcomes improvements set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England is asking local health systems to start this engagement soon and expect local politicians to have an opportunity to be involved in this, as well as other local stakeholders, local partners, communities, service users and patients.</p><p> </p><p>Nationally, the National Health Service is working with Healthwatch England and the Voluntary and Community Sector Health and Wellbeing Alliance to provide additional support to local systems in their engagement with local communities.</p><p> </p><p>The Chair of NHS Improvement, Baroness Harding, has been asked by the Prime Minister and Secretary of State to take forward the development of a workforce implementation plan, as part of the overall implementation plan for the Long Term Plan. This programme of work will engage with staff, employers, professional organisations, trade unions and think tanks to build a shared vision and a plan of action that puts NHS people at the heart of NHS policy and delivery.</p>

We have published the NHS Car Parking Principles which clearly state that concessions should be offered to groups who most need help, such as staff who cannot travel by public transport due to their shift pattern.</p><p> </p><p>However, given it is the responsibility of the local NHS trust, the Department has no jurisdiction to reduce or eliminate hospital car parking charges for nurses, doctors and essential healthcare workers.</p> more like this

However, as a responsible Government we must plan for every possible outcome, including ‘no deal’. The Department has published guidance to industry and the health and care system to allow them to make informed plans and preparations. This is available on GOV.UK.</p><p>The Department has put in place a multi-layered approach to minimise any disruption to the supply of medicines. In August 2018, the Department wrote to all pharmaceutical companies that supply prescription-only and pharmacy medicines to the United Kingdom that come from or via the EU/European Economic Area asking them to ensure a minimum of six weeks’ additional supply in the UK, over and above existing business-as-usual buffer stocks, by 29 March 2019.</p><p>The response from industry has been hugely positive. The vast majority of companies have confirmed stockpiling plans are in place and medicines continue to arrive to deliver on these plans. We are confident that if everyone does what they need to do, the supply of medicines and other medical products will be uninterrupted.</p>
