	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">NHS England has recently announced plans to enable consistent national availability of the Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring device according to published guidance.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) can purchase any available blood glucose monitoring which has been approved for sale on the open market. The availability of AccuChek Expert, Dexcom G6 and Eversense XL products is a matter for CCGs who are primarily responsible for commissioning diabetes services, to meet the requirements of their population. In doing so, they need to ensure that the services they provide are fit for purpose, reflect the needs of the local population, are based on the available evidence and consider national guidelines. NHS England engages with technology companies developing products that may be of significant benefit to those with diabetes to seek to increase their availability to patients where appropriate.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Department does not collate data on the number of patients using these devices nationally or by clinical commissioning group.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> <p><ins class="ministerial">NHS Digital publishes Hospital and Community Health Services (HCHS) workforce statistics for England. These include staff working in hospital trusts and clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), but not staff working in primary care or in general practitioner surgeries, local authorities or other providers.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The attached table shows the number of paediatric mental health nurses who work in National Health Service trusts and CCGs in England as at the last day of each specified month from May 2010 to July 2018 (latest available), full time equivalent.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Paediatric mental health nurses include qualified nurses &amp; health visitors within the care settings 'Community Mental Health' and 'Other Mental Health', with Tertiary Areas of Work 'Child and Adolescent Psychiatry' and 'Child Psychotherapy'.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Area of Work reproduced here is that submitted by individual NHS organisations and has not been subject to the types of validation procedures undertaken by NHS Digital in relation to many other data items used in official publications. The Barnett Formula will have been applied to all changes to the DCMS budget at both Spending Reviews and at Fiscal Events in the normal way as set out in the Statement of Funding Policy.</p><p> </p><p>Companies from across the country have been directly engaged in legacy infrastructure and projects - for example, South Wales based Pro Steel were awarded contracts as part of the transformation of the Olympic Stadium roof post-2012 Games, they secured a £1m loan to enable them to compete for the work from Finance Wales. Pro Steel were also awarded a subcontract by BAM Nuttal for transformation work in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park post games consisting of re-purposing and construction of a bridge in the north of the Park near the Velodrome. They were also awarded the contract to make modifications and strengthening works to another bridge, and supply and installation of a third bridge.</p><p> </p><p>Last week I met with my counterparts in Wales and Scotland to discuss the many opportunities the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games presents to the whole of the UK. The Government’s commitment requires the relevant Minister to make and publish a statement for each EU exit bill indicating:</p><ol><li><p>a. whether the bill amends, repeals or revokes any part of the Equality Acts 2006 or 2010 or any secondary legislation made under those Acts and, if it does make such changes, an explanation of the effect of each change; and</p></li><li><p>b. that in relation to the policy which is given effect by the Bill, the relevant Minister “has had due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under the Equality Act 2010.”</p></li><li><p>c. The Government will be making such a statement in respect of the WAB (which will be set out in the Explanatory Notes accompanying the Bill on its introduction); and this analysis has been carried out to inform decision-making on the Withdrawal Agreement and as preparation for the equality statement.</p></li></ol><p>The UK Government is committed to ensuring that there is no regression inequalities as we leave the EU. The Equality Act 2010 sets out wide-ranging equalities protections, and incorporates virtually all existing EU equalities law and Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) case law. In some areas, domestic legislation goes further than EU requirements - for example the public sector equality duty, which places a proactive duty on public authorities to consider how their policies or decisions would affect people who are protected under the Equality Act. There are also domestic requirements that ensure non-discrimination in access to goods and services on grounds of disability.</p><p>The Withdrawal Agreement also sets out a commitment to 'no diminution of rights, safeguards or equality of opportunity' in Northern Ireland, as set out in the Rights, Safeguards and Equality of Opportunity Chapter of the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement, results from the UK's withdrawal from the EU. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>In 2014 the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) provided £1,213,385 in funding for a research study on creating synthetic cells to support cancer treatments. This is due to conclude in 2018. Additionally, in 2017/18 the NIHR provided £406,071 in clinical research support for 26 studies on the creation or use of synthetic cells in areas such as cancer, dementia and neurodegeneration, paediatrics, diabetes, hepatology, musculoskeletal disorders, ophthalmology and reproductive health.</p><p>Synthetic biology is also an area of strategic interest for UK Research and Innovation, through the Medical Research Council (MRC), the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).</p><p>The MRC has invested £9.5 million, from April 2017 to March 2022, into two programmes at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. These applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value for money and scientific quality. In all disease areas, the amount of NIHR funding depends on the volume and quality of scientific activity.</p><p>The NIHR and the Medical Research Council both have a wide portfolio of research activity in vaccines which cover clinical trials for new vaccines, new technologies, ways of improving uptake and cost effectiveness.</p><p>The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation is an expert advisory group which advises United Kingdom health departments on immunisation. When recommending vaccines, they are required to show that cost-effectiveness criteria are met.
