	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/12/2018 answer text <p>We are looking closely at the issues that limit diverse representation, particularly for those facing multiple barriers to participation. Ultimately, parties are responsible for selecting candidates and ensuring they are fielded in winnable seats.</p><p>Political parties have different challenges to face to improve the diversity of their candidates. Many political parties already publish some candidate diversity data voluntarily.</p><p>Our centenary fund is supporting projects in England to engage more women in politics. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>Further to my answer of 13 November to my Rt Hon Friend the Member for Loughborough, I have received a number of representations regarding section 106, including from civil society organisations.</p><p>We continue to keep uncommenced provisions of the Equality Act 2010 under review. Equality is never a one-time fix and it is right that we should keep re-examining the issues.</p><p>This Parliament is the most gender and LGBT diverse ever, but there is still more to do. Political parties are responsible for their candidate selection and should lead the way in improving women’s representation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2019 answer text <p>In common with other such Plans which it has published, the EHRC’s Strategic Plan 2016-19 sets priority areas and intended actions for the Commission’s own work over the three years in question, but does not make recommendations either for Government or for other EHRC stakeholders. The relevant Priority Area (“Citizenship and Democracy”) of the EHRC’s Strategic Plan 2016-19 accordingly commits it to <em>“focus on delivering improvements in relation to political representation and civic participation; anti-extremism and anti-terrorism legislation and surveillance powers; and freedom of expression and freedom to associate in a trade union.”</em></p><p>The Government notes these commitments, but has not made an assessment of their merits in tackling the barriers facing women in politics and public life, or of whether they support aspects of the Equality Act 2010 such as Section 106.
