	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/10/2018 answer text <p>I have asked the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority to reply.</p><p>Letter from Marcial Boo, chief executive of IPSA, 10 October 2018:</p><p>The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) provides Family Leave Guidance in relation to staff employed by MPs, a copy of which can be found on our website at: <a href="https://protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/QKKeCvlGAf2N028cQYpib?domain=theipsa.org.uk" target="_blank">http://www.theipsa.org.uk/ipsa-for-mps/guidance</a>.</p><p>This document provides guidance on maternity leave, paternity leave, adoption leave, shared parental leave, KIT/SPLIT days and caring leave. This is not a policy, but guidance to MPs on the statutory entitlements. As the legal employers of their staff, MPs are responsible for matters of individual staffing arrangements, such as approving instances of family leave and ensuring that they comply with relevant employment legislation.</p><p>As the document is guidance rather than a policy, and relates only to the statutory entitlements, we have not undertaken any specific assessment of its effects. However, IPSA encourages responsible employment and any necessary expenditure by MPs on the health and welfare of their staff, including their mental health. MPs can claim the cost of staff health and welfare costs, such as occupational health assessments, from their staffing budgets. We also undertake Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) in relation to major changes to our Scheme of MPs’ Business Costs and Expenses. We last undertook an EIA in March 2017 which concluded that changes proposed to our Scheme were likely to have a small positive impact on MPs’ staff in relation to pregnancy and maternity. The Attorney General will be travelling to Northern Ireland during October to meet with the Northern Ireland Attorney General.</p><p>The Government has a published the Serious Violence Strategy to take action to address serious violence including the recent increases in knife crime. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/12/2018 answer text <p>For the past four years of the First World War centenary, we have supported a number of projects that have highlighted the contribution of the Chinese Labour Corps. We supported the ‘Unremembered Project’, which recognised the contribution made by labour corps from across Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, and this included a focus on the Chinese Labour Corps. We also supported the Meridian Society to work in schools and communities to highlight the almost 100,000 men recruited by Britain to provide essential logistical support in Europe. Currently, we are also supporting the <a href="http://ensuringweremember.org.uk/" target="_blank"> ‘Ensuring We Remember</a> ’ campaign, to create a permanent memorial in central London, to be unveiled in 2019. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/11/2018 answer text <p>Decisions on adoption in England are made by local authorities based on children’s individual needs.</p><p>In 2016 the government published ‘Adoption – A vision for change’ which set out how we intend to radically redesign the whole adoption system in England – the structures, systems and workforce – to ensure we have the foundations in place to build lasting change.</p><p>We have enabled more children to be placed in stable homes earlier by requiring local authorities to consider a fostering for adoption placement wherever possible. We funded a significant growth in the use of innovative adopter-led matching through National Exchange Days and Adoption Activity Days. We have also introduced a new, quicker two-stage process for approving adopters.</p><p>The result has been that the average time taken from entering care to a child being placed with their adopted family has decreased since 2012-13 by 7 months to 14 months in 2017-18. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/11/2018 answer text <p>No representation has been received on the exclusion of Christianity from religious education curriculum or the GCSE in religious studies.</p><p> </p><p>Teaching about Christianity is a mandatory element of religious education. All state funded schools in England are required to teach religious education from age 5. This must ‘reflect that the religious traditions of Great Britain are in the main Christian whilst taking account of the teaching and practices of the other principal religions represented in Great Britain.’</p><p> </p><p>The government sets the content specification for Religious Studies GCSEs which requires students to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fact that the religious traditions of Great Britain are, in the main, Christian.
