star this property answer text The UK recognises the growing threats faced in Mexico by many Human Rights Defenders (HRDs), including those protecting religious freedom. Officials in the Embassy in Mexico City have regular contact with HRDs and Civil Society Organisations that support them. We work with international partners to monitor cases, observe trials and raise issues with the government. We are working closely with the government of Mexico to support a human rights agenda, including tackling corruption and strengthening the legal system, which some reports suggest are contributing factors to the challenges that HRDs face. Over the past four years, UK Ministers and officials at our Embassy in Mexico City have raised our human rights concerns with the Mexican Government and will continue to raise these, including as part of follow up to the last UN Universal Periodic Review. more like this

Since then, Ofcom has taken a number of steps to benefit consumers in the telecoms sector, including introducing an Automatic Compensation Scheme for broadline and landline customers, and a text to switch reform to simplify switching for mobile customers. Additionally, the Government’s Consumer Green Paper was published on 11 April 2018. It seeks views on how to ensure that modern consumer markets work for all, both now and in the future, including in the telecoms sector. star this property answer text The Government remains committed to ending six figure pay outs in the public sector. The regulations to implement the exit payment cap were drafted as part of the passage of the Enterprise Act 2016. Since that time, they have undergone further iteration and will be completed following the outcome of the consultation and then laid in Parliament. It is not possible to forecast the hours required to reflect the degree of changes which may be made to the draft regulations following the outcome of the consultation, which will necessarily depend on consultees views and the Government’s response to that consultation. The consultation will seek views on the terms of the draft secondary legislation, including the detailed design of the exit payment cap and the list of bodies to which the cap will apply. more like this

star this property answer text The Government is determined to crackdown on unacceptable behaviour in the online ticketing market and improve fans’ chances of buying tickets at a reasonable price. We have strengthened the existing ticketing provisions in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are in the process of introducing a new criminal offence of using automated software to buy more tickets than that allowed, and support the work of the Competition and Markets Authority and National Trading Standards in enforcing the law in this area. We recognise, however, that Government can’t act alone in addressing this issue, and that the ticketing industry, regulatory bodies, and online platforms need to take actions themselves. We welcome the action taken in March by the Advertising Standards Authority against four of the main operators in the secondary ticketing sector banning the misleading presentation of pricing information on their websites, and the assurances from these platforms that they would make changes to their websites to comply with this ruling. We hope this will help improve transparency in the market and help consumers find legitimate official ticketing sites.

He called on the Burmese military to fulfil its duty to respect international humanitarian law, ensure access for humanitarian organisations and allow the 2,000 civilians trapped by the fighting to leave to safe areas.
