	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2018 answer text <p>Air passenger duty (APD) is payable by airlines in respect of each liable passenger departing from the UK and is dependent on the class of travel and final destination of the passengers.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC do not have numbers for the cabin crew exemption specifically because airlines are only required to declare an aggregate number of exempt passengers on their return.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC does publish estimates of the cost of the exemption from APD for cabin crew. However, no data is available on how much VAT is raised on their sale as this level of detail is not requested on VAT returns.</p><p>Energy drinks are often also high in sugar. From April this year, the Soft Drinks Industry Levy will take effect, which is forecast to raise nearly £1.5billion over the next five years. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/02/2018 answer text <p>HM Revenue &amp; Customs continues to explore how technology, including track and trace systems could improve taxpayer compliance and help tackle the illicit trade in excise goods.</p><p> </p><p>HM Revenue and Customs has conducted no formal research into the potential effect of track and track systems on reducing the amount of lost excise duty. However, the European Commission published an assessment of the impact of implementation of a track and trace system for tobacco products across the EU at: <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/health/sites/health/files/tobacco/docs/2015_tpd_tracking_tracing_frep_en.pdf" target="_blank">https://ec.europa.eu/health/sites/health/files/tobacco/docs/2015_tpd_tracking_tracing_frep_en.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>In November 2017, the UK voted to adopt EU regulations for the introduction of a pan-European track and trace system for tobacco products - a requirement of the EU Tobacco Products Directive 2014. This system will also meet the requirements of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Illicit Trade Protocol, to which the UK is a signatory.
