	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/12/2017 answer text <p>When a claimant moves from a legacy benefit to Universal Credit, they can ask for a Universal Credit Advance (benefit transfer) if they need help to manage the transition to a monthly paid benefit. This type of advance does not require a claimant to demonstrate financial need but they must be able to repay it over the required 12 months timescale.</p><p> </p><p>The latest statistics, for October 2017, show that 2,400 Benefit Transfer advances were paid to new claim who go on to receive a Universal Credit payment. These payments can continue until 31<sup>st</sup> August following the young person’s 19th birthday, which aligns with the academic year and allows most young people, still in education or training under age 20, to finish their course. There are 1.2 million individuals in employment aged 65 and over.</p><p> </p><p>Employment rates for older workers have also been increasing steadily. In the past ten years, the employment rate for people aged 50-64 has increased by 6.0 percentage points (from 65.2% in 2007 to 71.2% in 2017).
