NIHR does not usually ring-fence funds for specific disease areas such as dementia. NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health including dementia. Applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value for money and scientific quality. In all disease areas, the amount of NIHR funding depends on the volume and quality of scientific activity. NIHR funding for dementia research grew to £44.6 million in 2016/17, up from £37 million in 2015/16. This is a major contribution to meeting the commitment under the Government’s 2020 Dementia Challenge, to maintain funding at £60 million a year. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2018 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The government’s sport strategy “Sporting Future” highlighted the importance of welfare and wellbeing for everyone participating in elite sport, regardless of age.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">In March 2018 I published a mental health and elite sport action plan, based on discussions I held with sportspeople and key stakeholders from across the sport and mental health sectors. The plan sets out a range of actions to improve the support available to athletes, the sharing of best practice across the sport sector, and mental health education and training in sport.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">As highlighted in the plan, UK Sport has worked with key agencies to develop a Mental Health Strategy, being implemented during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games cycle (2017-2021). The aim of the strategy is to deliver positive mental health for all people operating in the high performance system, for athletes as well as senior leaders, coaches, practitioners and administrators.</del></p><p> </p><ins class="ministerial">The government’s sport strategy “Sporting Future” highlighted the importance of focusing on groups that are particularly unlikely to take part in sport and physical activity, such as women and girls. It is vital we build on successes like the performance of England at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2017 to inspire more girls and women to get involved in sport.</ins> <ins class="ministerial">Sport England, government’s arm’s length body for community sport, is funding both the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Rugby Football League (RFL) to build capacity and encourage participation. Both of these national governing bodies have also partnered with Sport England’s “This Girl Can” campaign, to encourage more women and girls to get involved with their sports. This important pledge of international action reflects the success of the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference in London in October, which was attended by more than 70 countries and more than 400 organisations. The conference focused the minds of international governments on the issue and energized global cooperation to fight the illegal wildlife trade. As per the answer to PQ 184996, please note that offenders may appear both within the caseload figures of court orders (including community orders and suspended sentence orders), and post-release supervision.</p><p> </p><p>The National Probation Service and Community Rehabilitation Companies work closely with other agencies to support offenders in the community. When an offender being supervised by Probation dies, the Probation provider must examine the circumstances of the death and identify areas to improve practice. While we work extremely closely with each offender before and after release to help them find the support they need, we do not have sole responsibility for caring for these offenders. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/11/2017 answer text <p>The table below shows the top five individual medicines <del class="ministerial">and chemicals</del> that have shown the highest increase in <ins class="ministerial">cost</ins> <del class="ministerial">price </del> over the last 10 years for Net Ingredient Cost (NIC) per prescription item <del class="ministerial">and NIC per quantity</del>. Prescription medicines<del class="ministerial">/chemicals</del> have only been included where there was prescribing in both 2006 and 2016.</p><p><ins class="ministerial">For any medicine listed, it does not necessarily mean that the price has increased. For example, the cost per prescription item will be higher if the quantity being prescribed per prescription item has increased.</ins></p><p>This is based on Prescription Cost Analysis (PCA) data. PCA data is based on analysis of all prescriptions dispensed in the community i.e. by community pharmacists and appliance contractors, dispensing doctors, and prescriptions submitted by prescribing doctors for items personally administered in England. PCA data do not cover drugs dispensed in hospitals, including mental health trusts, or private prescriptions.</p><p> </p><p>Costs vary over time due to numerous factors including medicines going off patent and becoming available generically, unlicensed medicines becoming licensed medicines, shortages, the level of competition for generic medicines, as well as centrally agreed pricing schemes such as the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is working closely with the Competition and Markets Authority on a number of investigations into unwarranted price rises of unbranded generic medicines.
