The UK is not a member of the Coalition and we do not have any role in setting Coalition policy, or executing air strikes in Yemen. The UK will not issue an export licence to Saudi Arabia, or any other country, if we assess there is a clear risk the items might be used in the commission of a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

On 1 September, the Saudi-led Coalition's Joint Incidents Assessment Team announced the outcome of an investigation into the 9 August incident, its regret and action to address the recommendations of that investigation. star this property answer text
It is difficult to assess the number of deaths resulting from the conflict in Yemen due to our lack of access and presence on the ground. We welcome the efforts of the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data project and others to estimate the impact of the conflict, recognising that sadly the true fatality figures are likely to be higher. We maintain that a political settlement is the only way to bring long-term stability to Yemen and to address the worsening humanitarian crisis. All parties must engage constructively and in good faith to overcome obstacles and find a political solution to end the conflict.
more like this

star this property answer text
We know that government alone cannot transform social mobility. Employers play an important role by ensuring fair access to the workplace. The best employers are already taking some important steps, including engaging and supporting young people in schools, introducing fairer recruitment practices, removing barriers, opening up alternative routes to entry, and monitoring progress – but there is more to be done to ensure that background is not a barrier to a good career. That is why we support the Social Mobility Employer Index, which celebrates those employers leading the way in opening up access and progression.

The government recognises concerns about exploitation of interns and we are clear that this is unacceptable. We will act where we find that employment law has been broken and someone who is entitled to the minimum wage has not been paid it.
more like this
