	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/10/2019 answer text <p>The Language Services contracts commenced on 31 October 2016, with thebigword appointed as providers of spoken face to face, telephone and video interpretation as well as translation and transcription services.</p><p> </p><p>The initial term of the contracts is four years with up to three one-year extensions available.</p><p> </p><p>The initial term of the contracts with thebigword is due to expire on 30th October 2020. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/01/2017 answer text <p>To ensure a high and consistent level of fulfilment across all geographical areas and in rare languages, thebigword have partnered with a number of subcontractors, namely: Global Language Services Limited, Cintra Translations Limited, Debonair Languages Ltd, Supreme Linguistic Services Ltd, Mango Spice Language Solutions, J-anne Interpreting and Translation Service Limited, Global Translation Services and Language River.</p><p> </p><p>Thebigword must ensure that its subcontracts contain obligations no less onerous on the sub-contractor than those imposed on them by the Ministry, including those relating to quality and performance standards. Thebigword are also responsible for carrying out audits to ensure subcontractor adherence to the contract service specification.</p><p> </p><p>All language professionals provided by thebigword, whether directly or via subcontractor, will be subject to ongoing quality assurance provided by The Language Shop. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/03/2020 answer text <p>Ministry of Justice funding for Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) is delivered through the Youth Justice Board (YJB), which provides an annual grant to local authorities to deliver youth offending services. Though varying by YOT, on average this makes up less than a third of the funding YOTs receive. Local authorities and partner agencies provide the rest of their funding. The YJB does not specify how the grant should be spent.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities hold the statutory responsibility to deliver youth justice services in their area and services are designed according to local context and needs. This is evident for all young offenders, including those who identify as Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT).</p><p> </p><p>It is noteworthy, however, that in the 2015/16 ‘Children in Custody’ report that describes the number of GRT children in young offender institutions (YOI), that participation in education, work or vocational or skills training in custody is higher for those identifying as GRT in YOIs when compared to the rest of the cohort.</p><p> </p><p>In December we set out our response to Charlie Taylor’s review of the youth justice system and how we will improve outcomes for young people across the youth custodial estate. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2017 answer text <p>The Youth Justice Board (YJB) is planning to stipulate the future collection of ethnicity data based on the ‘18+1’ ethnicity categories used in the 2011 Census (which includes ‘Gypsy or Irish Traveller’ as a separate category) as part of its Annual Data Recording Guidance. This guidance will be issued to Local Authority Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) by the start of the new reporting year in April 2017. Once this guidance is issued, YOTs, the YJB and the secure estate will need to make changes to their various IT systems. This requires updating over 150 systems and the technical standards between them.</p><p> </p><p>The YJB estimate that the changes will be implemented by spring 2018. We are committed to ensuring that young people in the youth justice system receive the support they need to prevent them from committing further offences, with youth offending teams leading a multi-agency approach involving the courts, children’s services and other local services as appropriate. We recognise that problem-solving approaches can provide alternatives to a traditional court process, and may lead to improved outcomes for children and their families.
