It is critical that all parties to the conflict renew their commitment to a Cessation of Hostilities for the sake of the people of Yemen. All parties must engage constructively with the De-escalation and Coordination Committee so that when incidents of concern are raised they can be addressed effectively to reduce the likelihood of escalation. more like this

star this property answer text This Government believes Daesh must be held accountable for its crimes in Syria and Iraq, as well as those committed in the wider region, in Europe and across the world. We are currently funding efforts to gather and preserve evidence of crimes committed by Daesh in Iraq, and continue to support the UN Commission of Inquiry's investigations in Syria. On 19 September, the Foreign Secretary, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip (Boris Johnson), along with his Iraqi and Belgian colleagues, launched a global campaign to bring Daesh to justice. We intend this to include additional, UN-led action to gather and preserve evidence in Iraq. We are working with the Government of Iraq on a proposal to bring to the UN. more like this

star this property answer text The Strategy for our Veterans and the complementary UK Government Consultation Paper were published on 14 November and debated in both Houses on 15 November. The Consultation Paper seeks public views to inform how the Government will implement the strategy. The Scottish and Welsh Governments have made separate consultation arrangements for areas that are devolved. Following conclusion of these consultations, implementation plans will be developed by each relevant service provider, along with individual costings which will fall across Government. Once implementation options have been agreed, the resource required to implement the Strategy for our Veterans will be agreed between Ministerial Covenant and Veterans Board members, which includes the Chief Secretary to the Treasury. more like this

The High Commissioner chaired a meeting with the US, French, Canadians and the EU on 1 December to discuss this matter. The UK supports the independent investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights and Freedoms into the violence and deaths in Bamenda. The UK believes that all parties have a responsibility to uphold and protect the peace and stability of Cameroon and that legal and peaceful means should be used to voice any grievances. The violence has abated and we hope for a swift and peaceful resolution of this matter. more like this
