The most recent meeting was on 6<sup>th</sup> February.</p><p> </p><p>There are 1.2million affected vehicles in the UK and the technical update has been approved for approximately one million of these. The Secretary of State plans to travel to Berlin to meet with our German counterparts to discuss this important issue. We expect that the vast majority of the wrongdoing took place in Germany and so it is appropriate that the German authorities lead the investigation. However we have not ruled out launching our own criminal investigation.</p><p> </p><p>I have met with representatives of legal firms preparing civil action against Volkswagen and am considering their requests for assistance. However, I have discussed Volkswagen with my German counterpart and explained that the Government wants Volkswagen’s UK and European customers to receive a warranty when they have the “technical fix” applied to their vehicles. On 16 January I met with Paul Willis, Managing Director of VW UK, and on 6 February I met with Dr Garcia Sanz, a member of the Volkswagen Management Board, and VW UK representatives.
