star this property answer text <p>A formal claim for compensation was submitted in April 2014 and was settled in the autumn of 2015. The settlement followed a thorough pre-litigation process during which investigations took place.</p><p>Following the settlement of the claim the Bishop of Chichester, the Rt Revd Martin Warner issued a formal apology. star this property answer text <p>The Electoral Commission is not currently carrying out any investigations into electoral fraud in Tower Hamlets. Any allegations of electoral fraud offences under the Representation of the People Act 1983 can only be investigated by the police, on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The Metropolitan Police Service is responsible for investigating any allegations relating to elections in Tower Hamlets, and the Commission will monitor the outcome of any investigations relating to electoral fraud offences.</p><p>In advance of the elections this May, the Commission is working closely with the police and electoral administrators in each of the 18 areas it has identified as being at higher risk of allegations of electoral fraud, including Tower Hamlets, to ensure that robust plans are in place to detect and prevent fraud.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is working closely with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to help MPS meet its Service Level Agreement targets. The performance of police disclosure units is an operational issue for individual police forces and the Disclosure and Barring Service.</p><p>The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has established a Gold Group, on which DBS is represented, to oversee the recovery plan in place to reduce the time taken for applicants awaiting a response to Disclosure and Barring checks. I have made clear to the MPS that its current delays must be addressed as a matter of priority and I continue to maintain close oversight of the progress being made.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Discussions continue to take place between a number of Government departments on a regular basis on how we tackle illegal migration, including solutions to enable the return of foreign nationals.</p><p>Each asylum case is considered on its individual merits. Where it is accepted that an individual would face persecution in their country of origin or it would be otherwise unsafe for them to return, some form of protection would normally be granted in the UK. If protection is not granted, then whether or not removal can be enforced, we expect failed asylum seekers to return home.</p><p>Generally, there are no countries to which, as a matter of immigration policy, we cannot remove. However there may be some countries where at any one time it is difficult logistically to undertake enforced removals.</p><p>We are in discussions with EU partners on how to take forward proposals to return those who travel through safe third countries back to those areas they transited through, or to establish zones of protection to which failed asylum seekers could be returned when return to their country of origin is not possible.</p><p>The UK also participates in a number of EU readmission agreements, some of which include clauses for returning third country nationals.</p>

The Home Office was aware of the expansion of existing accommodation in East Cardiff.
