star this property answer text <p>The new e-petitions system has been running for over a year now and the Government is pleased with the level of engagement that it has prompted among the public.</p><p> </p><p>Individual Departments are responsible for the content and timeliness of responses to e-petitions, however the Leader's office has general Government oversight of e-petitions. My predecessor reminded Cabinet colleagues of the importance of quality and timely responses to e-petitions at the beginning of the second session. I will be writing to Cabinet colleagues this week with a similar reminder.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Parliamentary e-petitions site is jointly owned by the Government and the House of Commons, therefore any assessment of potential changes to the system would have to be agreed between the Government and the House.</p><p>I have not had any discussions to assess such changes to the e-petitions system, however the hon. Member may find it reassuring to know that all petitions submitted are moderated by the staff of the Petitions Committee before being published and opened for signing by the public. The Committee staff ensure that all petitions adhere to the agreed standards which are clearly displayed on petition.parliament.uk. The final decision on the admissibility of an e-petition rests with the Petitions Committee itself.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Parties in receipt of Short Money are required to provide the Accounting Officer of the House of Commons with a certificate of an independent auditor to confirm that all expenses in respect of which the party received financial assistance were incurred exclusively in relation to the party’s parliamentary business. In addition, parties must now provide information relating to staffing and other costs as set out in resolutions dated 23 March 2016 and 7 July 2016.</p><p> </p><p>The deadline for providing this information for the 2016/17 financial year is 31 May 2017 and details will be added to Parliament’s website as soon as is practically possible after this date.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As of 13 October, there is a total of three hundred and sixty eight (368) Peers with desks provided within one hundred and twelve (112) offices in the Palace of Westminster.</p><p>There is a total of twenty eight (28) desks provided within eight (8) offices to Civil Servants in the House of Commons foot print of the Palace of Westminster for the following: Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Leader of the House and Government Chief Whip.</p><p>There is a total of twenty one (21) desks provided within six (6) offices to Civil Servants in the House of Lords foot print of the Palace of Westminster for the following: Cabinet Office (16 desks, 4 offices) and Crown Office (5 desks, 2 Offices). In addition there is a Bill Team Room in the House of Lords. This is a single office with two desks which is for the use of civil servants from whichever department is having legislation debated in the Chamber to use as a ‘hotdesking’ facility.</p> more like this
