star this property answer text <p /> <p /> <p>This information is not available.</p><p> </p><p>It is not possible to calculate the proportion of those affected by the removal of the spare room subsidy policy to date due to the dynamic nature of the caseload (i.e. every month there are on-flows as well as off-flows). However a recent DWP ad hoc publication did show that between May and December 2013 around 19,000 of the caseload downsized within the social rented sector over this period. This is likely to be an understatement and it does not include those who have downsized to the private rented sector.</p><p> </p><p>This represents around 10% of all those who during this period were no longer subject to a reduction in their housing benefit award due to the policy.</p> more like this

These figures may include a small number of people in receipt of National Insurance credits only.</p><p> </p><p>Under the last Government, figures for long-term JSA were kept artificially low by moving claimants onto training allowances. This Government stopped doing that when we introduced the Work Programme, meaning we now have a true measure of the number of people claiming benefit due to unemployment.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>A suite of evaluation was published on 15 December 2014 finding those who would be impacted by the benefit cap were 41 per cent more likely to go into work, as defined by having an open Working Tax Credit claim, than a similar group with benefit entitlement just under the cap level and 38 per cent of those capped said they were doing more to find work. Further information can be found at:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/benefit-cap-evaluation" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/benefit-cap-evaluation</a></p><p> </p><p>The number of households capped in Medway Local Authority from the introduction of the benefit cap (on 15 April 2013) to August 2014 (the latest available data) was 239. Of the 109 households who were no longer capped as at August 2014, 36 had an open Working Tax Credit (WTC) claim, indicative of a move into work. This is not a comprehensive measure of moves into work; some individuals may go into work but may not be eligible to claim WTC if their earnings are too high or the hours worked do not meet the claim requirements.<br> <br></p><p>The number of households capped in Gillingham and Rainham Parliamentary Constituency from the introduction of the benefit cap (on 15 April 2013) to August 2014 (the latest available data) was 81. Of the 35 households who were no longer capped as at August 2014, 6 had an open Working Tax Credit claim, indicative of a move into work. This is not a comprehensive measure of moves into work; some individuals may go into work but may not be eligible to claim WTC if their earnings are too high or the hours worked do not meet the claim requirements. The introduction of the Q&amp;A system has had no impact on existing or planned ICT systems.</p><p> </p><p>One of the benefits of the new system is the possibility for the reporting of the timeliness of answers to Parliamentary Questions to be delivered with greater consistency and accuracy across all answering bodies. It will be for the Procedure Committee to evaluate the effectiveness of the new system in improving performance when it assesses the evidence following the end of the session.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>The Department treats any allegation of fraud by its contractors very seriously. Any fraud is completely unacceptable. Where we identify, or are notified of, allegations of provider fraud, these cases are investigated thoroughly by the Department’s professionally trained and experienced investigators to a standard required to support reference to the Police whenever evidence of criminal offences is discovered.</p><p> </p><p>Since June 2011, the Department has investigated 37 allegations of fraud or irregularity by Work Programme providers. In only 3 cases has there been evidence of deliberate false representation by provider staff. All these cases were referred to the police and the amounts involved have been recovered in full or are in the process of being recovered.</p> more like this
