<p>We are concerned by reports of sexual violence in areas of conflict in Burma and allegations of human rights abuses in Rakhine state. We continue to raise our concerns with the Burmese Government.</p><p>As the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, I visited Burma in November 2016 and raised our concerns about conflict-related sexual violence during my meetings with Government Ministers. With the Burmese Defence Minister, I pressed the military for the resumption of humanitarian aid access in Rakhine and on handling allegations of sexual violence in a thorough and transparent manner.</p>
