unstar this property answer text <p>In 2010 the Coalition pledged to reduce the number and cost of public bodies. Our Public Bodies Reform Programme is the largest restructuring of public bodies in a generation. It will make the landscape smaller, more accountable, and will offer better value for money to the public.</p><p>By April 2011 the reforms brought about by the programme had reduced the number of public bodies by 46. During 2011-2012 the numbers reduced by a further 56. To date over 185 public bodies have been abolished and more than 165 have been merged into fewer than 70.</p><p>The total number of public bodies has reduced by over 285.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As with all outsourcing arrangements, security and information assurance measures are being implemented in line with the Government’s Information Assurance Standards, Good Practice Guides, Government Security Policy Framework and Data Protection Act. These Government security requirements were introduced under the previous Government and applied to outsourcing then. All shared services data will be handled, processed and transmitted in accordance with these security requirements, taking into consideration clients’ security policies.</p><p> </p> more like this

The National Cyber Security Strategy, published November 2011, sets out how the UK will support economic prosperity, protect national security and safeguard the public’s way of life by building a more trusted and resilient digital environment.</p><p>We do not comment on specific details of cyber security attacks on Government IT systems.</p><p> </p> more like this

There's more to do and in the Autumn Statement the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury jointly laid out plans to save a further £10 billion by 2017-18 through efficiency and reform.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Spend with SMEs was not systematically monitored prior to the 2010 General Election.</p><p>As part of our long-term plan for a stronger economy, the Government has introduced ambitious reforms to help SMEs tender for and win business. As a result our direct spend with SMEs has increased year on year. Direct spend with SMEs was £3.2bn in 2010-11, £4.4bn in 2011-12 and £4.6bn in 2012-13. These figures to not include indirect spend.</p><p>Data for 2013-14 will be published in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this
