This trial is an operational matter for the Chief Constable.</p><p>In determining the storage and use of data obtained through this trial, the force will be subject to a duty to have regard to the surveillance camera code of practice issued as guidance under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service uses information about witnesses in criminal cases to ensure that individual trials are managed effectively. HMCTS does not, however, hold data on the number of child witnesses who give evidence via video link/recording.</p><p> </p><p>Video recording of initial evidence known as ABE (Achieving Best Evidence) is appropriate for some child witnesses; this is undertaken by the Police and can be played at trial.</p><p> </p><p>In December 2013, a pilot commenced of S.28 of Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999, a special measures provision allowing the Cross Examination of eligible witnesses' evidence to be recorded in advance of the trial. This pilot is taking place in three Crown Courts sitting at Liverpool, Leeds and Kingston-upon Thames.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Responsibility for training of judiciary, including magistrates, rests with the Lord Chief Justice (LCJ) and is exercised through the Judicial College.</p><p> </p><p>Depending on the nature of the case, judicial office holders are authorised to hear, and receive specialist training for, cases involving children. Control is exercised through listing which is a judicial function. Where appropriate, special measures, including the use of an intermediary, are identified through the process of case management and used by the court to support children who give evidence. In further support of this, the LCJ set out his plans for authorising and training Crown Court Judges who will preside over trials involving child grooming by gangs in his letter to the Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee on 26<sup>th</sup> July 2013.</p><p> </p><p>Regular assessment of both training requirements and the numbers of authorised judicial office holders is made.</p><p> </p><p>Answer (c) Ministerial responsibility for prosecutors rests with the Attorney General, Mr Dominic Grieve QC MP.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>From 1 October 2014 the Ministry of Justice will require robust data from the grant recipient for the Homicide Service.</p><p> </p><p>The grant recipient will be required to provide (subject to refinement during the grant period) data on outcomes achieved in relation to all those supported: including improvement to the quality of their lives and ability to cope with normal activities during and following support provision. In addition, data on user satisfaction will be required and monitoring of any complaints received.</p><p> </p><p>The Ministry of Justice will also require an accurate record of all expenditure in connection with the grant as described in the Grant Agreement, and shall put in place arrangements to provide to the Authority such information as may be required.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Victim Support bid to provide the national Homicide Service from 1 October 2014 included the provision of caseworker support and support from Missing Abroad (The Lucie Blackman Trust) for families bereaved by homicide abroad. None of the peer support groups which formed part of Victim Support's bid only support families where the homicide has occurred abroad. However. the bid included organisations which can provide peer support including (but not exclusively) if the bereavement by homicide occurred abroad. The grant award for the provision of the Homicide Service includes up to £100,000 from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to support those bereaved by homicide abroad.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Intermediaries were introduced in the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 to help vulnerable witnesses, including children, communicate their evidence during criminal proceedings. Though there are no plans to extend the use of Registered Intermediaries to other court proceedings, we are working with our partners in the criminal justice system to increase the provision and uptake of Registered Intermediaries.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I have been asked to reply on behalf of the Home Office. Integrated Offender Management is an important approach to cutting crime and reoffending in local areas. One of the key strengths of the approach is that the local model should be responsive to local needs and priorities as identified by the agencies and the partners in the area. For this reason, we have not imposed any particular model of Integrated Offender Management on areas, nor do we performance manage from Whitehall the crime and reoffending outcomes that local partners in areas such as the London Borough of Islington may be achieving through their local approach.</p> more like this
