star this property answer text <p>There are no social security benefits relating to housing costs or council tax that are available only to single people. There is a reduction of 25% in the council tax payable available to those who live alone, but the administration of this is a matter for local authorities. </p><p> </p><p>Generally, suspicions that claimants may be living together as if they were married or in a civil partnership without informing the relevant benefit payer come from various sources, including members of the public and members of staff. The Department currently does not investigate cases that only involve housing benefit as these are a matter for local authorities.</p><p> </p><p>Council tax benefit ceased to exist on 1 April 2013 and has been replaced by the local council tax reduction (LCTR) scheme, the administration of which is a matter for local authorities. </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The British Geological Survey (BGS) is recording seismicity in the Fylde and as of 15 November it has reported 36 minor seismic events since operations began, all but four of these were below the 0.5 magnitude threshold which requires Cuadrilla to pause operations for a minimum of 18 hours.</p><p> </p><p>The BGS has a greater quantity of specialist equipment in the Fylde than anywhere else in the UK which is why a high proportion of minor seismic events are being published on their site which are not reported elsewhere in the country.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I would encourage businesses coming to the end of fixed term rates to explore UK Finance’s Business Current Account Finder tool, which was designed to help businesses compare the full range of accounts available to find products that best suit their needs – including business loans.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has taken unprecedented steps to protect millions of businesses across the UK both following the outbreak of Covid-19, and more recently high energy prices. Latest measures include:</p><ul><li>Extending the Recovery Loan Scheme until June 2024, providing businesses with up to £2 million of government guaranteed finance.</li><li>Increasing the Employment Allowance from £4,000 to £5,000, which means that businesses and charities who had employer NICs bills of £100,000 or less in the previous tax year will be able to claim up to £5,000 off their employer NICs bills.</li><li>Businesses will also benefit from the cut to the duty rate on petrol and diesel by 5p per litre until March 2024 and the cancelling of the planned inflation increase this year.</li></ul>
