These include Ofsted and the Teaching Unions. It has been warmly received across the education sector, and work is already beginning to deliver the commitments made in the Strategy. Events are being run across the country in March 2019 to communicate the aims of the Strategy, primarily for head teachers and other school leaders. unstar this property answer text
Since 2015, the Department has allocated £6 billion to those responsible for school buildings and for essential maintenance and improvements, including removing or encapsulating asbestos when it is the safest course of action to do so. In addition, through the Priority School Building Programme, the Department is rebuilding or refurbishing buildings in the worst condition in over 500 schools across the country. Asbestos was a factor in selecting buildings for the programme.

Advice from the Health and Safety Executive is clear that if asbestos is unlikely to be damaged or disturbed, then it is best managed in situ. Although, the Department is also clear that when asbestos does pose a risk to safety and cannot be effectively managed in situ, then it should be removed. Schools and those responsible for school buildings receive building condition funding through different routes depending on their size and type and this should be used to address asbestos issues if materials cannot be safely managed in situ.

The Department published ‘Asbestos Management in Schools’ guidance in February 2017 to help local authorities, governing bodies and academy trusts to meet their legal duties and manage asbestos effectively. The Department also launched the Asbestos Management Assurance Process in March 2018 to help develop a more comprehensive understanding of asbestos management in the school estate.

By providing Government with the data that informs the creation of the Pipeline, both the public and private sectors are demonstrating commitment to the planned projects and programmes within the Pipeline. These will be in various stages of delivery and each publication of the Pipeline includes a delivery progress update. The National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline therefore gives greater transparency and certainty to the construction sector, rather than creating instability.
more like this

Therefore the initial decisions in Table 2 will include claims where the disability has not been recorded due to the assessment not being completed, and are therefore not comparable to the figures in Table 3.

Data is based on primary disabling condition as recorded on the PIP computer system. Claimants may often have multiple disabling conditions upon which the decision is based but only the primary condition is shown in these statistics.

The disability subgroup of Epilepsy in the PIP Computer System includes Cataplexy, Generalised seizures (with status epilepticus in last 12 months), Generalised seizures (without status epilepticus in last 12 months), Narcolepsy, Partial seizures (with status epilepticus in last 12 months), Partial seizures (without status epilepticus in last 12 months) and Seizures - unclassified.

PIP data includes normal rules and special rules for the terminally ill claimants.

Data has been rounded to the nearest 10.

Appeals data taken from the DWP PIP computer system’s management information. Therefore this data may differ from that held by Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service for various reasons such as delays in data recording and other methodological differences in collating and preparing statistics.

Decisions overturned at appeal may include a number of appeals that have been lapsed (which is where DWP changed the decision after an appeal was lodged but before it was heard at Tribunal).

Some decisions which are changed at MR, and where the claimant continues to appeal for a higher PIP award, are then changed again at tribunal appeal. Therefore the number of people who had a decision changed at MR and the number of people who had a decision changed at tribunal appeal cannot be added together.

Claimants who have received benefit decisions more recently may not yet have had time to complete the claimant journey and progress to appeal.
