unstar this property answer text <p>No assessment of the effects of zero hours contracts on worker's wellbeing has been made by this Department. However the Workplace Employers Relations Study (WERS) found that overall well-being of employees increased between 2004 and 2011 despite the recession. Overall job satisfaction also increased and is very high by international standards.</p><p>Zero hour contracts have a place in today's labour market, supporting business flexibility, making it easier to hire new staff and providing pathways to employment for young people.</p><p>Following a public consultation, which closed in March this year, this Government has introduced legislation via the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill to ban the use of exclusivity clauses in contracts which do not guarantee any hours.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p> </p><p>On 16 June 2014 the Government signed a City Deal with the Tees Valley in which the local leaders committed to develop plans to strengthen governance, including progressing the idea of a combined authority for the area.</p><p> </p><p>It is for the local areas themselves to decide, given their circumstances, what governance arrangements will best enable effective and collaborative decision taking, which is transparent and locally accountable, thus delivering successfully the implementation of the area's Strategic Economic Plan. Where councils come forward with a proposal for a combined authority that commands wide local support, if the Secretary of State considers that the statutory conditions are met, he will invite Parliament to approve an Order which enables the combined authority to be established.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p> </p><p>As outlined in the Written Ministerial Statement of 18 September 2012, <em>Official Report</em>, Column 32WS, my Department does not publish statistics by government office region.</p><p> </p><p><em> </em></p><p> </p><p>National and local authority data for homelessness are published in Live Table 784a which is available online at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness</a>.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>National and local authority data on rough sleeping can be found in Table 1 of the Rough Sleeping in England statistical release which can be found on the department's website at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rough-sleeping-in-england-autumn-2013" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rough-sleeping-in-england-autumn-2013</a></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>We are investing over £500 million over the current spending review period to help local authorities and voluntary sector partners prevent and tackle homelessness, rough sleeping and repossessions. This includes £20 million to support the roll out of the ‘No Second Night Out' standard and protect vital front line services. We have also supported the voluntary sector to deliver 'StreetLink' a national rough sleeping hotline, website and app to connect rough sleepers to local services.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 10 June we announced that over £65 million of additional funding across Whitehall is being offered to councils and other organisations to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping around the country and ensure that vulnerable people can access a range of support and lead independent lives.</p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>With local match funding, the £250m allocated to broadband in 2015-16 and 2016-17 will enable superfast broadband coverage to be extended to 95% of premises by 2017. The Department announced indicative funding allocations for local broadband project areas in February 2014. The first procurements for projects using this funding are now under way.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Secretary of State for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has a statutory duty under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 to superintend and promote the improvement of the public library service provided by local authorities in England. The Department is aware of the proposed changes to library service provision in Lincolnshire having received a number of representations from local residents. A legal challenge to the decision taken by Lincolnshire County Council to reconfigure its library services is to be considered by the High Court on 8/9 July and this Department will consider matters further in light of the outcome of the Judicial Review.</p> more like this

There can be small anomalies in the data where personnel have transferred to the Army from another service, served under an alternative assignment type (e.g. reserve forces), are re-entrants or have transferred from officers to other ranks.</p><p> </p><p>The average career length is a simple calculation based on dividing the total length of service of all those personnel who have left the Army by Corps between 1 April 2010 and 31 March 2013 by the total number of personnel leaving each Corps during the same period.</p><p> </p><p>Notes/Caveats:</p><p>Underlying outflow figures have been rounded to 10; numbers ending in “5” have been rounded to the nearest multiple of 20 to prevent systematic bias.</p><p> </p>

This visit enabled both parties to conduct tactical development of our respective operational test and evaluation processes.
