These are available on the government website (2017 - <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/dcms-sectors-economic-estimates-2017-gva" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/dcms-sectors-economic-estimates-2017-gva</a>).</p><p>In 2017 the gross value added (GVA) of the creative industries was £101.5 billion, up from £66.3 billion in 2010. This represents a 53.1% increase, compared to the 29.7% increase in the rest of the economy over the same period. When viewed as a percentage of the UK’s entire GVA, the creative industries now make up 5.5% of the UK’s total GVA, a 53.1% increase since 2010.</p><p>DCMS measure the design sector under the broader category of &quot;design and designer fashion&quot;. In 2017 these sectors contributed £3.95 billion to the economy, up from £1.97 billion in 2010. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2019 answer text <p>Where an operator fails to meet its requirements under the Licensing Conditions and Codes of Practice, the Gambling Commission can take regulatory action. Whilst the vast majority of issues are resolved without the use of formal powers, the Gambling Commission may, in the event of a serious breach, impose financial penalties or revoke an operator’s licence. Within the regulatory process, the Commission may also agree a regulatory settlement, whereby an operator agrees to makes a donation to a socially responsible cause.</p><p> </p><p>The table below shows the number of fines and regulatory settlements issued between 2010 and 2018. Together, these came to over £40 million. These will bring together local partners to deliver a shared vision for investing in culture at a local level to drive inclusive growth. This is why we have established the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, to provide independent, expert advice on the measures needed to enable and ensure safe, ethical and innovative uses of AI and data-driven technologies.</p><p>The principles set out in the EU guidelines are closely aligned with the UK’s own approach. Organisations that process personal data collected by smartwatches must comply with the the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. The GDPR imposes strict obligations on organisations to process people’s data fairly and lawfully and to ensure that any data collected is held securely. Organisations which fail to comply may be subject to enforcement action by the Information Commissioner’s Office.</p><p> </p><p>We do not intend to ban the sale of smartwatches, but we have issued a Code of Practice for organisations involved in the development, manufacturing and retail of products linked to the ‘Internet of Things’ to ensure that products are designed securely and keep consumers safe. The Data Protection Act 2018 and the GDPR is in place to ensure that organisations, including the biggest advertising companies, who collect and use data do so lawfully and transparently. Organisations which fail to comply with the new legislation may be investigated by the Information Commissioner’s Office.</p><p> </p><p>The ICO is working with the advertising industry to improve compliance with the law. The ICO recently held a Fact Finding Forum, designed to better understand the key data protection issues around adtech and have published the following blogs in relation to this work. This is clearly outlined in the 'Political Declaration', which sets out a vision for close relationship in cyber security, including through participation of certain activities of ENISA, the EU Cybersecurity Agency and the NIS Cooperation Group. The EU 'Cybersecurity Act', which sets out a framework for the development of EU wide cyber security certification schemes reached political agreement in December and we will be working with the EU to consider the future implications for this legislation as part of this close relationship.
