I met with President Ali, Foreign Secretary Todd, National Security Advisor Captain Gerry Gouveia, Defence Force Chief of Staff Brigadier Omar Khan and the The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary General Dr Carla Barnett to show UK support for Guyana's territorial integrity. President Ali strongly welcomed this visit and our ongoing support.

HMS Trent also visited on 29/30 December as a further signal of the UK's support for Guyana's sovereign borders. The UK welcomes the Argyle Declaration signed by Venezuela and Guyana in St Vincent and the Grenadines on 14 December, that makes clear Venezuela is to refrain from the use of force and any further escalation. We continue to work with our partners in the region and internationally to de-escalate tensions and ensure respect for Guyana's sovereignty.
more like this

These weapons were similar to the weapons the Houthis have recently used to disrupt shipping in the Red Sea. Iran has been supplying the Houthis with intelligence and continues to supply them with weapons; on 17 January the Foreign Secretary made clear to the Iranian Foreign Minister that this must stop. A new Iran sanctions regime was launched in December which includes trade restrictions on UAVs and components.
more like this

star this property answer text
No cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) have yet been recorded in the British Antarctic Territory (BAT). The FCDO is working with scientists at the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) to monitor the situation. BAS scientists have developed a phased approach, should HPAI be detected in BAT, that aims to monitor and mitigate outbreaks as far as possible. FCDO is issuing guidance for anyone granted a permit to enter Antarctica, which sets out regulations as well as warning behaviours and how to report any instances of this. FCDO guidance also advises all permit holders to abide by any guidelines released by the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators when landing near any bird colonies. Enhanced precautions are now in place which require any scientists who plans to handle wildlife to follow the latest guidance issued by the FCDO and BAS.
more like this

GSGSSI has a tiered response plan in place to manage the outbreak and, alongside the British Antarctic Survey, is monitoring the situation closely for spread. GSGSSI has put enhanced biosecurity procedures and mitigation measures in place for different groups and activities depending on the HPAI risk at each visitor or landing site, and is regularly updating site response levels. Visitor landings are continuing at some sites, but will be restricted or cancelled if necessary. A limited number of high priority science projects are continuing with additional safeguards in place.
more like this

The UK position is clear: civilian infrastructure including places of worship must be protected in conflict. All states, including Israel, must exercise their legitimate right to self-defence in accordance with International Humanitarian Law. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary will continue to engage regularly and closely with their Israeli counterparts on this issue. Our focus right now is getting humanitarian aid into Gaza, securing the release of British hostages and showing solidarity with Israel in defending itself against Hamas.
more like this
