answer text <p>Although the Government has not undertaken this specific assessment, we closely monitor trends in bird populations. These trends have long been considered to provide a good indication of the broad state of our wildlife.</p><p> </p><p>In November last year, the Government published <em>Wild Bird Populations in England, 1970 to 2017</em>. Overall, this showed that the combined all-species index has changed little compared with around 45 years ago. However, there was much variation in numbers between species, with some species increasing and some species decreasing.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Local Authorities have direct responsibility to produce shoreline management plans covering the entire coast of England. These plans provide a long term, sustainable policy framework for local authorities, to manage the risk of coastal change over the next 100 years.</p><p> </p><p>Government is working closely with coastal authorities on a review of shoreline management plans to ensure they are up to date and using the best evidence. Schemes within the current capital investment programme to 2021 benefit from £1.2 billion of investment in coastal erosion and sea flooding projects which will better protect over 170,000 properties.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is investing £2.6 billion (including the additional £76m announced in the last Budgert) between 2015 and 2021, delivering at least 1,500 new flood defence schemes and better protecting 300,000 homes. The six year Capital Investment Programme will provide Flood Defence Grant-in-Aid as shown below for flood and coastal risk management schemes by NUTS 1 regions.</p><p> </p><p>Where appropriate, property level flood protection measures are integrated within flood risk management schemes. answer text <p>Since the Scheme’s launch in April 2016, over 45 insurers are now offering Flood Re backed policies, representing over 90% of the market. Between April and September 2016, the Flood Re Scheme has provided backing to 53,000 policies.</p><p> </p><p>We have no powers to force insurers to make use of Flood Re. These powers, in the Water Act 2014, relate to the flood obligation. Given that Flood Re is operating well, Ministers currently have no intention to use these powers.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government takes air pollution seriously and is committed to improving the UK’s air quality, reducing health impacts, and fulfilling our legal obligations.</p><p> </p><p>Directive 2008/1/EC, the Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control Directive (IPPCD) has been superseded by the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED, 2010/75/EU) which brought together seven related directives including the IPPCD and the Large Combustion Plant Directive.</p><p> </p><p>Until exit negotiations are concluded, the UK remains a full member of the European Union and all the rights and obligations of EU membership remain in force. During this period the Government will continue to negotiate, implement and apply EU legislation. The outcome of these negotiations will determine what arrangements apply in relation to EU legislation and funding in future once the UK has left the EU.</p> more like this
