We have been clear that we have concerns about the potential for these facilities to appear to condone drug use and to encourage the continued illicit supply of drugs. They will not be introduced in England and Wales. Our approach is to prevent drug misuse in our communities and support people through treatment and recovery</p><p>The Home Office commissioned Dame Carol Black to lead a major independent Review of Drugs. The Review’s findings were published in February. The Review, building on existing Government strategies to combat drugs, serious violence and serious and organised crime, examined the harms that drugs cause and the best ways to prevent drug-taking. The Health and Social Care Secretary commissioned Dame Carol Black to lead a further review, focused on prevention, treatment and recovery in order to focus our efforts in those areas most effectively</p><p>Law enforcement partners are already cracking down on criminals who supply drugs, causing misery to families and communities. The National Crime Agency works with partners around the world to target crime groups that traffic drugs into the UK. A total of 183,068 drug seizures were made in England and Wales in 2019/20, a 20% increase compared with the previous year (153,136).</p><p>Individual local authorities are responsible for the design, commissioning and monitoring of locally tailored treatment and prevention systems in West Yorkshire. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/06/2016 answer text <p>We have worked closely with the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) to ensure that the police have the necessary resources to tackle dealers of substances banned under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016.</p><p>We held joint operational workshops with the NPCC for enforcement partners across the UK and the NPCC has produced guidance for officers, in consultation with the Home Office, to support enforcement of the Act’s offences. The Local Government Association has developed guidance to assist action by local authorities.</p><p>In addition, we have put in place a comprehensive testing programme to fulfil the evidential requirements of the Act. For the first year of implementation, test results will be held by the Home Office’s Centre for Applied Science and Technology who will maintain a central reference bank of data. The Government will respond to the expert panel’s report and its recommendations shortly.<br><br>The Coalition Government has already banned hundreds of new psychoactive substances. The possession of any amount of a controlled drug is a criminal offence and the supply of a controlled drug is an even more serious offence. No illegal drug-taking can be assumed to be safe and there is no safe way to take them.</p><p>The Government’s approach remains clear: we must prevent illicit drug use in our communities and help those dependent on drugs to recover, while ensuring our drug laws are enforced. In relation to drug testing at festivals, chief constables are responsible for operational decisions in their local area and we are not standing in their way. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to preventing drug use in our communities and supporting people through treatment and recovery and we expect to make an announcement about the Recovery Champion in due course.</p><p>We have established a Drug Strategy Board which includes representation from Government departments and wider partners who are critical to the successful delivery of the Strategy, including those in education, health, criminal justice, housing and employment. The Board is chaired by the Home Secretary and its purpose is to oversee and drive implementation of the commitments in the 2017 Drug Strategy. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2018 answer text <p>Nationally, the Government is already delivering a range of actions through the 2017 Drug Strategy to prevent drug misuse in our communities, support people to recover from dependence on drugs, and support enforcement partners to tackle the illicit drug trade.</p><p>We have established a Home Secretary-chaired Board which includes representation from Government departments and wider partners that are critical to drive implementation of the commitments in the 2017 Drug Strategy.</p><p>However, we recognise there is still further to go to tackle the problems caused by drugs, which is why the Home Secretary recently announced an independent review of drugs.
