However, the DVSA is leading on this and has met, corresponded with and continues to work with Vauxhall on the Zafira issue. The DVSA has overseen two safety recalls and corresponding actions to protect consumers.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>I have had discussions with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) about the progress of the Vauxhall Zafira safety recalls. DVSA is investigating reports concerning the safety of the Zafira, including reports of thermal incidents in vehicles subject to the recall, and those that have had the second recall. If needed, DVSA will explore the possibility of extending the existing recall, and is keeping this matter under review. DVSA will continue to press Vauxhall to meet its safety obligations under the General Product Safety Regulations and associated legislation.</p> more like this

Compensation for vehicles affected by a safety recall is a matter for the producer/distributor to agree with the individual consumer. unstar this property answer text <p>The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is working with Vauxhall and other manufacturers and distributors to ensure that they meet their vehicle safety obligations as set out in the Code of Practice on Vehicle Safety Defects, the General Product Safety Regulations and associated legislation.</p><p> </p><p>It is the responsibility of manufacturers and distributors, including Vauxhall, to ensure that all vehicles placed on the market are safe. This includes second-hand vehicles subject to a safety recall. The DVSA and I have discussed this issue with Vauxhall.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>To address the latest reported fires, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency told Vauxhall that a secondary safety recall (R/2016/104) was needed on Vauxhall Zafira B models equipped with manual control heating and ventilation systems. Under the requirements of the Code of Practice on vehicle safety defects and the General Product Safety Regulations, manufacturers are required to inform owners/keepers of vehicles that are affected by a vehicle safety recall of the risk and what action they are conducting to address the issue.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Vauxhall has not been requested to reclassify the cause of the fires on the Vauxhall Zafira B models that have been subject to vehicle safety recalls, to include premature corrosion of the blower motor. The investigations into the cause of these fires has determined that the fires are occurring as a result of a manipulated heater motor resistor, or under very specific circumstances, the degradation of the heater motor resistor, which can affect the effectiveness of the unit.</p><p> </p><p>Vauxhall has, however, included the replacement of the heater blower motor as part of its action to remove the risk to those using Zafiras.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>There are no plans to tell Vauxhall to extend the vehicle safety recall of Zafira B models to include those equipped with automatic climate control.</p><p> </p><p>The secondary safety recall (R/2016/104) affects only Vauxhall Zafira B vehicles equipped with a manual control heating and ventilation system.</p><p>Vauxhall Zafiras fitted with automatic climate control use a different resistor pack that is not affected by manipulation or degradation, so their inclusion in the safety recall is unnecessary.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK’s Vehicle Certification Agency issued the type approval for some Volkswagen Group vehicles. For these the agency is working with the manufacturer to review and approve the proposed fixes. They are carrying out tests to ensure that after the fix is applied the vehicles meet all the legal requirements including emissions, and that other vehicle characteristics are unchanged, including power output, fuel consumption and engine noise.</p> more like this
