star this property answer text <p>Policing is a devolved matter; the PSNI’s main budget is allocated by the Department of Justice from the Northern Ireland block grant, through the Policing Board. Operational capability and policing matters are a matter for the Chief Constable, with whom I maintain regular contact.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government has provided the Police Service of Northern Ireland with additional security funding in order that they can tackle the SEVERE and enduring threat from Northern Ireland related terrorism.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) receives around 4 million disclosure applications a year and operates to a target to process 95% of applications within 56 days (8 weeks). Latest figures (relating to July 2015) show that 95.2% of disclosures were issued within this time and the average processing time was 14.3 days. For applications received from individuals living in Sheffield the average processing time was 15.1 days and for individuals living in the West Midlands12.2 days.</p><p>A key aspect of DBS administration is to ensure that disclosure checks are both accurate and completed in a timely manner. The processing time target provides a clear benchmark for expected performance. DBS targets are reviewed each year to ensure they are appropriate and focused on operational priorities.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In September 2014, the Government published data on the socio-economic status of recent entrants to the SCS:</p><p>https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/359079/socialmobility_revised.pdf</p><p>There is an ongoing review into the most effective and appropriate definition for social mobility which we will align with in future years. This work is being led by The Bridge Group, a charitable policy association promoting social mobility, as part of research they are undertaking on social mobility in the Fast Stream. The Outcome of this review will also inform future data collection on socio-economic status more widely and assist us in our further efforts to increase representation of people from less well-off backgrounds at all levels within the civil service.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Each Home Office Annual Report and Accounts publication includes information relating to payroll (civil servants) and non-payroll (agency and contractors substituting temporarily in civil servant roles as part of our flexible resourcing strategy) staff. Table 1 includes information for each of the financial years from 2010 – 11 to 2014-15. The percentage of non-payroll staff increased in 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 as the Department operated on a lower overall level of permanent civil servants, which was then complemented by more flexible hires to meet seasonal and other temporary demands.</p><p>Information for the 2015-16 period will be published shortly.</p> more like this
