star this property answer text The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is responsible for ensuring standards for health interventions. It provides national guidance, advice and published quality standards to improve health and social care, including on children’s mental health, for example, guidance on social and emotional wellbeing in primary education and quality standards on the promotion of health and wellbeing in under fives.<p>The proposals set out in our Children and Young People’s Mental Health Green Paper will ensure that interventions delivered by new Mental Health Support Teams are in accordance with NICE guidance and advice. This will include appropriate individual and group clinical interventions for mild to moderate anxiety and low mood, social problems and mild conduct problems and behavioural intervention with parents.</p><p> </p><p>The Department therefore has no plans to convene a working party.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>‘Thriving at Work: The Stevenson / Farmer review of mental health and employers’ sets out that all employers should adopt six ‘mental health core standards’ that lay the basic foundations for an approach to workplace mental health - such as producing, implementing and communicating a mental health at work plan and we encourage all employers to take this forward.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will respond to the full review later this year, as a part of our response to the consultation on the Work, Health and Disability Green Paper.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also provides a range of support to employers, such as Access to Work which has a specific Mental Health Support Service, and the Disability Confident scheme, and we are more than doubling the number of Employment Advisors embedded in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies services to enable more people to receive integrated mental health and employment support so that they remain in, return to and find work.</p> more like this

This sets out steps for recruiting and retaining 21,000 new staff across the mental health system, with the expectation that 19,000 of these places would be filled by staff employed directly by the National Health Service. star this property answer text <p>‘Stepping Forward to 2020/21: The Mental Health Workforce Plan for England’ was published in July 2017 and sets the ambition to deliver 21,000 new posts across the mental health system, with the expectation that 19,000 of these places will be filled by staff employed directly by the National Health Service by 2020/21.</p><p> </p><p>The plan aims to increase the size of the mental health workforce, including the workforce for children and young people’s mental health services, through increased recruitment, improved retention and through development of new roles and ways of working to improve efficient use of the most qualified staff.</p><p> </p><p>All regions have developed and are implementing mental health workforce plans which include plans to expand the number of professionals working in children and young people’s mental health services.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>‘Implementing the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health’ (NHS England, 2016) sets out the planned expenditure for additional cash term funding for mental health through to 2020/21.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to this, NHS England tracks total outturn mental health expenditure for clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and for specialised commissioning.
