	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2015 answer text <p>The UK has been at the forefront of the response to the crisis in Syria and the region, and has pledged a total of £1 billion, our largest ever response to a single humanitarian crisis. Of this, £111 million has been allocated to provide protection, psychosocial support and education for children affected by the crisis in Syria and the region. This includes funding to establish women and children’s centres in Iraq– which provide counselling and support for women, and safe spaces for children to play and learn. In Syria, the UK is supporting children with food, shelter and health. Friend the Member for Witney (Mr Cameron) told the House on 7 September that the UK would meet its moral obligations and take 20 000 Syrian refugees over the lifetime of this Parliament. He also said we are using our aid budget to alleviate poverty in those countries of origin, we are the only major country in the world who has kept our promise to spend 0.7% of Gross Domestic Product on aid, and that we are the second largest donor to the Syrian conflict, including providing over 18 million food rations, and providing clean water for 1.6 million.</p><p>The Prime Minister also announced on 4 September an additional £100 million in aid, taking our contribution to over £1 billion. Sixty million pounds of this additional funding will go towards helping Syrians still in Syria. The remainder will go to neighbouring countries – to Turkey, to Jordan and to Lebanon where one quarter of the population are Syrian refugees.</p><p>The UK is taking part in the UN’s programme to resettle refugees who have fled their countries of origin. Additionally the UK operates three resettlement schemes in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: Mandate; Gateway and the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Scheme.</p><p>We continue to work closely with our EU partners, to develop a comprehensive approach that will help reduce the pull factor. We are also seeking to disrupt those criminal gangs engaged in people smuggling ad trafficking. There will be an EU/Africa conference in Valletta in November. We will, however, continue to provide practical support coordinated by the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) in the form of expertise to help build capacity in States facing particular pressures.</p><p>HM Government has already committed £900 million in humanitarian aid to the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the region. A further £100 million announced in the past few days, brings our commitment to £1bn, more than any other country in the world except the United States.</p><p>In addition, the Chancellor has announced a fundamental review of how the aid budget is used . 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2015 answer text <p>The Prime Minister has announced the expansion of the Government's Syrian Vulnerable Person Scheme, which is based on need rather than fulfilling a quota in a particular year. We expect to resettle 20,000 Syrians in need of protection during this Parliament. As the expanded scheme is based on need and reliant on the UNHCR and other partners to deliver, it is not possible or appropriate to set any sort of annual target, but we are clear that we must help people as soon as possible as the Home Secretary updated the House on 16 September.</p><p>In addition to the Scheme, since the crisis in Syria began in 2011 we have granted asylum or other forms of leave to almost 5,000 Syrian nationals and dependants through normal asylum procedures. In order to prevent young people slipping straight into a life on benefits, from April 2017 we will remove automatic entitlement to housing support for new claims in Universal Credit from 18-21 year olds who are out of work. This measure ensures young people in the benefits system face the same choices as young people who work and who may not be able to afford to leave home.</p><p> </p><p>However, we will ensure that vulnerable young people who are in need of support for their housing needs continue to receive it. We implement the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), which makes it an offence to place illegally logged timber on the EU market for the first time, and the EU Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Regulation, which aims to combat illegal logging and improve the supply of legal timber to the EU. Defra officials are engaged in coordinating implementation of the EUTR and FLEGT Regulation across the EU, and in the EU-wide reviews of these Regulations.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government’s Timber Procurement Policy (TPP) requires central government departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies to procure timber and timber products that are both legal and sustainable. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2015 answer text <p>While there are no sector–specific rules determining which telephone numbers communication providers offer to customers for reporting broken services, in practice many providers already offer no-cost routes for reporting line faults. These include 151 and Freephone (0800) numbers. Following recent Ofcom changes, 0800 freephone numbers are now free to call from mobiles as well as from fixed lines.</p><p> </p><p>On the issue of elderly and vulnerable people, Ofcom requires providers to allow disabled customers who are dependent on the telephone to have access to priority fault repair services.
