There are over 120 future systems projects across the UK, including those as part of the newly announced Government funded ‘Prospering from the Energy Revolution’.</p><p> </p><p>The joint Government and Ofgem Future Energy Retail Market Review is reviewing the design of the energy retail market to promote competition and drive innovation by introducing further flexibility into the regulatory framework. The CCC concluded that it can be compatible if certain conditions are met, which have been set out as three “tests&quot;[1]. We believe that our robust regulatory regime and determination to meet our carbon budgets means UK shale development is compatible with our goal to cut greenhouse gas emissions.</p><p> </p><p>The Climate Change Act 2008 sets a domestic target of reducing emissions by 80% by 2050 (based on 1990 levels). In October 2018, following publication of the IPCC’s 1.5°C Special Report, we commissioned the CCC’s advice on the implications of the Paris Agreement for the UK’s long-term emissions reduction targets. Automation can have beneficial impacts for the existing workforce; enabling workers to upskill, achieve better-quality work and become more productive. World Economic Forum estimate that robots will displace 75 million jobs globally by 2022, but create 133 million new ones.</p><p> </p><p>We are committed to ensure that the labour market continues to work for everyone. That is why we are improving the UK's system for training in digital skills and lifelong learning to ensure that working people have the support they need to navigate the challenge of automation to a higher-wage future. Through the Industrial Strategy we have delivered:</p><p> </p><ul><li>16 New Centres for Doctoral Training at universities across the country, delivering 1,000 new PhDs over the next 5 years;</li><li>New prestigious AI fellowships to attract and retain the top AI talent, underpinned by up to £50m of funding agreed at Autumn Budget</li><li>Industry-funding for new AI Masters places;</li><li>Invested £406m in maths, digital and technical education; and</li><li>Committed £100m for the first phase of developing the National Retraining Scheme to support people vulnerable to technological change.</li></ul><p> </p><p>The apprenticeships programme delivers upskilling and retraining throughout the economy. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/03/2019 answer text <p>The UK Government has an excellent record of supporting renewables and around a third of UK electricity generation now comes from renewable projects. We announced up to £557 million of annual support for further Contracts for Difference (CfD) in the Clean Growth Strategy, published in October 2017. The next CfD allocation round for less established technologies, including offshore wind, is planned for May this year, and is expected to support the delivery of around 4GW of new renewable electricity capacity. The Government has announced it intends to hold subsequent CfD auctions every two years from 2021, which are expected to deliver 1-2GW of additional offshore wind each year in the 2020s. We are also investing £177 million to further reduce the cost of renewables, including innovation in offshore wind turbine blade technology and foundations.</p><p> </p><p>The BEIS £505 million Energy Innovation Programme aims to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative clean energy technologies and processes into the 2020s and 2030s.</p><p> </p><p>Full details about BEIS Energy Innovation Programme investments are available at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/energy-innovation" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/guidance/energy-innovation</a>.</p><p>We have also consulted on a Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) to follow on from the Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) scheme, which will close from 1 April 2019, and has contributed to driving down the cost of renewable electricity, including small-scale solar PV. The SEG will ensure that small-scale renewable generators do not export their electricity to the grid for free. The SEG consultation closed on the 5 March 2019 and we are currently considering the responses submitted. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2019 answer text <p>We work collaboratively with other countries to tackle climate change in a variety of international fora.</p><p> </p><p>We play a leading role in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change process, which brings together almost 200 countries to discuss a global approach to tackling climate change. This process led to 195 countries coming together to secure the historic Paris Agreement in 2015, and a common rulebook for its implementation being agreed last year in Poland. This rulebook will drive genuine climate action globally, while allowing for flexibility and support for those countries that need it.</p><p> </p><p>As part of this process, we have offered to host the next important 2020 summit, COP26, demonstrating our commitment to ambitious international climate action.</p><p> </p><p>Later this year, the UN Secretary General is convening a Climate Summit in New York.
