star this property answer text <p>The FCDO ministerial team have and will continue to engage with counterparts in countries on the front line of climate change. The deal agreed at COP28 is a key moment in global efforts to get to net zero by 2050 and is the first time there has been a global agreement to transition away from fossil fuels. But the frequency, severity and costs of the impacts from climate change and nature loss are increasing, and it is the poorest and most vulnerable that suffer the most and disproportionately. That is why the UK announced £100 million at COP28 to support some of the most climate-vulnerable countries, which contributes towards the £1.6 billion announced by the Prime Minister at COP28.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK is committed to ensure trade supports long-term climate action, in line with the Coalition of Trade Ministers’ principles of leadership, transparency, inclusivity and cooperation.</p><p> </p><p>The Secretary of State attended the launch of this at the World Economic Forum in Davos this January and we continue to advocate for collective action at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other multilateral fora. For example, the UK has been a leading voice on the proposed G7-led ‘Climate Club’ – aiming to make it as inclusive as possible. Meanwhile, we are supporting the Net Zero transition through our Clean Growth export programme, foreign direct investment, UK Export Finance, and through overseas aid.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At COP26, the UK strongly supported the establishment of a 'Glasgow Dialogue on Loss and Damage' to discuss the arrangements for the funding of activities to avert, minimise and address loss and damage, in which we participate actively. The Santiago Network (a platform for catalysing technical assistance on loss and damage for developing countries) was also progressed at COP26 through agreement on functions and funding. The UK is actively engaging on Loss and Damage at COP27 and on 7 November announced £5 million in funding to support the set up and development of the Santiago Network.</p> more like this
