This is evident for all young offenders, including those who identify as Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT).</p><p> </p><p>It is noteworthy, however, that in the 2015/16 ‘Children in Custody’ report that describes the number of GRT children in young offender institutions (YOI), that participation in education, work or vocational or skills training in custody is higher for those identifying as GRT in YOIs when compared to the rest of the cohort.</p><p> </p><p>In December we set out our response to Charlie Taylor’s review of the youth justice system and how we will improve outcomes for young people across the youth custodial estate.
