unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring that brownfield land is used as much as possible for new development. This is supported by our intention to create a £1 billion Brownfield Fund to unlock homes on brownfield land. The Fund is a new initiative and as such no payments from it were made in previous years.</p><p> </p><p>The focus of the Fund will be on unlocking homes on brownfield land to create additional housing. Ministers are finalising the details of how it will operate and are clear that the role of local authorities such as Pendle Borough Council will be crucial.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to releasing surplus public sector land with capacity for up to 150,000 homes by 2020. It is important that we prioritise the release of land where there is housing need. We are clear that brownfield land that is suitable for housing has a vital role to play in meeting the need for new homes, and ensuring that the Green Belt is protected.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Government Departments are reviewing their land holdings in order to identify suitable surplus public sector land to meet the commitment. We also expect local authorities to consider how they can release their surplus land.</p><p> </p> more like this
