star this property answer text <p>The York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Growth Deal is part of the £12 billion long-term programme to revitalise local economies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Growth Deal for York, North Yorkshire and East Riding will see investment of £110 million to support economic growth in the area, including creating up to 4,000 jobs and allowing up to 5,000 homes to be built. As the Leader of North Yorkshire Council said “this long-term investment from Government recognises the potential of the rural economy in York, North Yorkshire and East Riding”. I am determined that we build on this and officials are currently discussing with the local enterprise partnership its priorities for the next round of Growth Deals, as well as advising and supporting on delivery arrangements for projects that have already received funding.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The pace of delivery of the Superfast Broadband Programme has accelerated substantially across the UK over recent months, resulting with on average 40,000 premises per week now able to access superfast broadband . All 44 Phase 1 local projects are delivering superfast broadband to homes and businesses. In August the programme had reached 1 million premises, and by February 2015 we will have reached 2 million homes and businesses. The second phase to extend coverage to 95% of UK premises by 2017 is in procurement and aims to have all contracts signed by early 2015.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The small scale Feed-in Tariff scheme has been a great success since its launch in April 2010, with over 600,000 installations registered for the scheme at the end of September 2014.</p><p>As required by our state aid approval, we will be conducting a periodic review of the Feed-in Tariff scheme in 2015 to check that compensation levels are appropriate for those looking to invest in their low carbon future by installing small scale renewable electricity technology at their home or business.</p> more like this

The City of London Police will second police officers to the Food Crime Unit as part of their role as the national lead for fraud. star this property answer text <p>In terms of future investment planning for the strategic road network, the Highways Agency is currently conducting its route strategy process to establish operational and investment priorities for all routes on the strategic road network. It is through this process that improvements to the A64 between York and Scarborough will be considered. The route strategy work is due for completion in March 2015 and will help inform the Department’s road investment strategy which we aim to complete before the end of this year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I receive regular representations on many issues including the role of women in public life.</p><p>We are removing barriers that prevent women from progressing in public life. For example, the Government has established the Centre for Public Appointments (CPA) in the Cabinet Office to ensure best practice is followed. As a result, the proportion of new female appointees to public boards has increased to 39%. We have also supported political parties to increase women’s representation thorough a combination of legislative and voluntary measures.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has committed nearly £2 billion since 2010 to maintain a network of at least 11,500 branches and to protect and modernise the network by 2018, securing its long-term sustainable future. The Post Office is continuing to meet strict access criteria that see, for example, 99% of the population living within three miles of a Post Office outlet.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Post Office is also modernising and improving its national network, with thousands of branches benefiting from investment under the Government funded Network Transformation programme. To date over 3,300 post offices have already converted, to the new Local and Main models, delivering benefits to customers such as much longer opening hours and improved branch environments. In total, these modernised branches are providing over 85,000 additional opening hours a week; ensuring customers can access Post Office services at a time convenient to them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Additionally, where a post office is “the last shop in the community”, which is the case in many rural communities, that branch is designated as a Community Branch, and is able to access and benefit from the £20 million Government funded Community Branch Fund.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>An assessment of the economic and environmental impacts of Greening in England was published in the evidence paper which accompanied the consultation of the Common Agricultural Policy in October 2013. A revised assessment will be published alongside the associated Statutory Instruments towards the end of the year.</p><p>The Crop Diversification requirement was assessed to affect 7% of farms, containing 12% of the arable area. The costs in terms of foregone production were estimated to lie between £12.3m and £99.5m per annum, with a central estimate of £55.9m.</p><p>The Ecological Focus Area requirement was assessed to affect between 20% and 40% of farms, containing between 30% and 50% of the arable area.
