The sectors that have been included are: Health general, basic health and non-communicable diseases.</p><p>(c) (i) DFID spent £1,048m bi-laterally on the broad Economic Infrastructure and services sector in 2018/19. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/05/2019 answer text <p>134 DFID staff have been temporarily seconded from their normal duties to work on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. DFID is working closely with other government departments to facilitate the return of staff deployed to other government departments, following the extension of Article 50. As of 21 May 2019, 100 of these staff have returned.</p><p> </p><p>To release staff for deployment, DFID undertook a detailed prioritisation exercise to assess the internal resource required to maintain essential delivery. For DFID, this meant meeting the legal commitment to spend 0.7% of GNI (Gross National Income) on international development in an effective and value for money way and the ability to respond to humanitarian emergencies. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/06/2019 answer text <p>An Ebola outbreak was declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in North Kivu and Ituri provinces, on August 1, 2018. The UK has been a major contributor to the response from the very beginning, providing both financial and technical support to tackle the disease and prevent its spread. Our funding to the WHO, other UN partners and the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) is supporting infection prevention and control, safe and dignified burials, community engagement and accountability, psychosocial support - particularly to survivors, and broader health systems strengthening.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is also the leading donor for regional preparedness to prevent the spread of the disease to neighbouring countries Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2019 answer text <p>Approximately 40% of health facilities in Malawi do not have adequate water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.</p><p>DFID’s £110m Malawi Health Service Support Programme funds regular supply of piped water to health facilities in 28 districts and the construction of new health facilities that meet water, sanitation and hygiene standards. An estimated 400,000 Malawians will benefit from these facilities.</p><p>DFID Malawi has funded UNICEF to improve hygiene facilities in 13 Cholera-prone districts. The UK has called for the human rights of all Sudanese people to be respected and for the resumption of the political process leading to an agreed peaceful transfer of power to a civilian-led government, as demanded by the Sudanese people. Following the Presidential election on 21 May, our High Commission in Lilongwe is engaging with the newly appointed Government to agree areas for future co-operation. The UK supports prosperity and development for the people of Malawi with around £140 million invested per year through the Department for International Development (DFID)'s work, which is targeted on the most vulnerable in society. The UK-funded Commonwealth Trade Facilitation Programme is helping Malawi adopt faster and more efficient customs procedures. In turn, these will reduce the cost of doing business and create a more enabling environment for intra-Commonwealth Trade. In conjunction with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Ministry of Defence (MOD), we are also providing expertise and training to Malawian rangers to tackle the Illegal Wildlife Trade. The visit reinforced the UK and Mozambique's shared commitment to prosperity, Commonwealth and security. During the visit I announced the creation of three honorary prosperity consuls to help promote stronger business links. On security, the UK and Mozambique signed a Defence Cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 13 May, allowing us to work more closely on security matters.
