star this property answer text <p>The Government recognise and value the importance that post offices play in communities across the UK and we remain committed to the Post Office network’s future.</p><p> </p><p>There is no programme of Post Office closures and the network has been as its most stable for decades thanks to Government investment of over £2 billion since 2010.</p><p> </p><p>The Post Office have in fact opened 350 branches through their New Network Location programme since April 2017.</p> more like this

We are committed to supporting carers and to do so in a way that takes account of their own health and wellbeing, life chances and promotes access to employment and retention.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is taking action to address the practical challenges of balancing work and caring responsibilities, as set out in the action plan that we published in June 2018. The Department is considering the question of dedicated employment rights for carers alongside existing employment rights (such as the right to request flexible working and the right to time off for family and dependants), and we are working with colleagues across Government to ensure that any emerging proposals are the most effective.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Section 44 of the National Minimum Wage Act 1998 sets out a specific exemption that applies to voluntary workers. People volunteering for charities, voluntary organisations and other relevant organisations contribute a huge value to society, and they do so without an expectation of being paid the National Minimum Wage.</p><p> </p><p>Guidance is available on <a href="https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fgov.uk&amp;data=02%7C01%7CSusan.Walker%40beis.gov.uk%7C9504bf748f074d9c905b08d6964ea43d%7Ccbac700502c143ebb497e6492d1b2dd8%7C0%7C0%7C636861663186015865&amp;sdata=Xcsw8v7BSTD2O4SB2kRvVRAD5eU7LFx78KVx02w6kBI%3D&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank">gov.uk</a> to support charitable and other relevant organisations in determining when voluntary workers are covered by the exemption. star this property answer text <p>The EU Withdrawal Act 2018 established that if the UK leaves the EU without a deal UK courts and tribunals will no longer be able to refer cases to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on or after exit day. Decisions of the CJEU made on or after exit day will not be binding on UK courts and tribunals, but judges may take these judgments into account if it is relevant to the matter before them. This principle will apply to claims brought in the UK under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE).</p><p> </p><p>As is the case before exit, an employment claim against an employer in another EU Member State (i.e. not the UK) may be brought in that country under its relevant national legislation. This will depend on the facts and circumstances of a particular case.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>CE marking is a declaration that a product complied with relevant EU legislation when the product was initially placed on the EU market. If a product has already been placed on the market and is then later sold as second hand, it does not generally have to be relabelled.</p><p> </p><p>If the UK leaves without a deal, the Government has announced a time-limited continuity approach to minimise disruption to businesses and consumers. This will mean that CE marked goods – whether new or second hand – can continue to be sold in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Charity shops will, therefore, still be able to sell second-hand goods labelled with the CE Marking, as long as those goods were compliant at the time they were initially placed on the UK market, and are still safe.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Employment law which derives from the EU is implemented in the UK, in statute if necessary. This includes the Agency Workers Directive and the Working Time Directive, which have been transposed into UK law. There is therefore no need to replicate them after the UK leaves the EU. We have committed not to roll back workers’ rights and that commitment includes the protections provided for by the Working Time Directive and the Agency Workers Directive. We also recently laid the Agency Workers (Amendment) Regulations 2019 which if passed will increase protections for agency workers on pay between assignment contracts.</p> more like this
