star this property answer text <p> </p><p>Schedule 12 of the Local Government Act 1972 requires local authorities (both principal and parish councils) to send summonses to attend meetings by post. Reflecting the take-up of digital communications, Ministers are minded to issue an Order under Section 8 of the Electronic Communications Act 2000 to facilitate this being done electronically; although we do believe that councillors should continue to have a right to receive communications in hard copy by post should they wish, and that this should be reflected in any legislative change.</p><p>We will be undertaking an informal sounding shortly on the wording of any draft Order with key partners, including the Local Government Association and the National Association of Local Councils.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government condemns all forms of hate crime including antisemitism. Nobody should be attacked because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability. In July 2016, we published Action Against Hate: The UK Government’s Plan for Tackling Hate Crime, which we will be refreshing this year.</p><p> </p><p>We work closely with the police and the Community Security Trust (CST), who are members of the Cross Government Working Group on Tackling Antisemitism, alongside other Jewish stakeholders. In their recent report, the CST recorded 1,382 antisemitic incidents reported across the UK in the 2017, a 3 per cent increase from the 1,346 incidents recorded during 2016.</p><p> </p><p>Individual police forces collate and analyse intelligence on the number of antisemitic incidents, in order to inform local operational decisions and to provide adequate protection at times of demand. The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) analyses this intelligence to inform forces of any emerging challenges.</p>

This will reduce the Department's running costs by £9 million a year from 2015-16, and save taxpayers £220 million over the lifetime of the building's lease commitments.<br><br>I also refer the hon. The statutory guidance, <em>Working Together to Safeguarding Children</em> requires all organisations to have arrangements in place which enable the effective sharing of information. Government Departments have been working to review procedures to identify children and adults at risk of abuse and the outcome of this review was published on 29 July and can be found at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/working-together-to-safeguard-children-multi-agency-safeguarding-hubs" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/news/working-together-to-safeguard-children-multi-agency-safeguarding-hubs</a>. Member to the Written Ministerial Statement of 5 February 2014, <em>Official Report</em>, Column 19-21WS, which sets out clearly the Government's intention that the element of localised council tax support funding provided to local authorities which reflects reductions in town and parish tax bases should be passed down to those councils.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>I additionally wrote to Leaders of billing authorities on this issue on 6 January and 21 February 2014.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The design and management of council tax support schemes is a local matter, and it is for local councils to work together to ensure that any relevant impacts are understood and taken into account.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p> more like this
