The funding that has been allocated to each local authority in each year, for which figures are available, is detailed in the attached Excel spreadsheet.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, there has also been £9.5m of funding allocated to Derby and Nottingham as part of their Future of Transport Zone plans. This funding will be used for seven e-mobility hubs, which will include charging infrastructure. These are based in neighbourhoods, depots and campuses across the two cities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2015 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Department for Transport ran a public consultation to help inform the specification for the new Northern and TransPennine Express franchises, and received over 21,000 responses; a summary of these have been published on the Government’s website.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">The Invitation To Tender for the Northern franchise has specified the replacement of Pacers (which are currently used) on services between Huddersfield and Sheffield) by the start of 2020, and other rolling stock used on the franchise will be subject to a substantial refurbishment. It also specifies an increase in the Sunday service provision on this route by December 2017. Our process for evaluating franchise bids encourages bidders to exceed the minimum specifications we state, and the bids themselves are due in to the Department by 26 June. We are due to announce the outcome towards the end of the year.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The number of publicly-funded chargepoints for electric vehicles that have been delivered in each of the last 10 years, including those for domestic use and those that are publicly accessible, is provided below. The first Government funding for chargepoints was in 2010/11 under the Coalition Government. It is clear that the public continue to realise the benefits of switching to electric vehicles.</p><p> </p><p>The vast majority of drivers of electric vehicles continue to benefit from significant savings on the cost of fuel. It is still cheaper to charge a vehicle on slow and fast public charge points than to fill up a petrol or diesel car, according to average industry statistics from November 2022.</p><p> </p><p>Charging at rapid and ultra-rapid public charge points is on average around the same or slightly more expensive than the cost of filling up a petrol car. However, relatively few drivers solely rely on these chargers for a large part of their charging demand.</p><p> </p><p>Charging a medium-sized electric car at home at rates equivalent to the electricity price cap from 1 October 2022 equates to around half the cost of filling up an equivalent petrol vehicle. This is available to all local authorities in England at no cost.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Government is currently working, with the Institute of Engineering and Technology, on guidance to aid local authorities as they plan their electric vehicle infrastructure. The assessment looked at the levels of residential off-street parking, progress of local authorities in developing their charging network to date, the rurality of a local authority and its level of deprivation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/07/2021 answer text <p>Government is investing £1.3 billion in accelerating the roll out of charging infrastructure over the next four years, targeting support on rapid chargepoints on motorways and major roads, and installing more on-street chargepoints near homes and workplaces to make charging as easy as refuelling a petrol or diesel car. Our grant schemes and the £400 million Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund will see thousands more electric vehicle charge-points installed across the UK.</p><p>We have set ambitious targets for chargepoints on our strategic road network in England to support long distance journeys. By 2023, we aim to have at least 6 high powered, open access chargepoints (150 - 350 kilowatt capable) at all motorway service areas and by 2030, we are planning for there to be around 2,500 high powered chargepoints across England’s motorways and major A roads. However, we have not set an overall target for the number of chargepoints. Having a “target” number risks assuming technology stands still and creating a uniform approach to charging mixes and needs across the country.</p><p>Government and industry have supported the installation of almost 25,000 publicly available charging devices. This includes more than 4,500 rapid devices. To ensure the private sector can continue to expand the charging network at pace in the 2020s, the Government will invest £950 million in future proofing grid capacity along the Strategic Road Network and launching a £90 million Local EV Infrastructure Fund to support the roll out of large on-street schemes and potentially rapid charging hubs in England.</p><p>Later this year we will publish an EV Infrastructure Strategy to set out the vision and action plan for charging infrastructure rollout needed to achieve the 2030/35 phase out successfully. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/01/2022 answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring an accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging network and that inclusively designed chargepoints are available for all consumers.</p><p>That is why we are partnering with national disability charity Motability to commission the British Standards Institution (BSI) to develop accessibility standards for public EV chargepoints across the country. These standards – to be finalised by summer 2022 – are being developed in collaboration with consumer groups, chargepoint operators and other stakeholders and will provide a new, clear definition of accessibility for public EV chargepoints. Guidance will consider aspects such as kerb height, cable weight, adequate space between bollards and chargepoints being of a height suitable for wheelchair users. It will also consider chargepoints in the context of their surrounding built environment to ensure pedestrians and other road users’ needs are reflected.</p><p>We have also consulted on introducing accessibility requirements at EV chargepoints via the Future of Transport Regulatory Review consultation.
