star this property answer text <p>All departments are equipping themselves with the resources they need to get the best deal for the UK. The Department for Exiting the European Union now has over 450 staff based in the UK plus the expertise of over 120 officials in Brussels. We regularly review headcount to ensure we are appropriately staffed to deal with all aspects of the negotiations.</p><p><br>The Department is continuing to recruit the brightest and the best from across the civil service, the wider public sector and the private sector. Numbers are regularly changing and our aim is to have a streamlined Department, while hiring in the right skills and experience to get the best outcome for the UK.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Exiting the European Union has used the services of a number of consulting firms to help with departmental set-up and planning. A small number of individuals are also on secondment from consultancy firms and external organisations. The Department will make further use of external support and recruitment as appropriate to ensure it has the right expertise available.</p><p>The total expenditure on professional services and consultancy in the financial year 2016-17 will be published in the annual report and accounts. Specific contracts awarded over £10,000 and items of expenditure over £25,000 will be reported in due course.</p><p> </p> more like this

Our relationship with the European Union's bodies upon exit will be evaluated in light of delivering the twelve objectives outlined by the Prime Minister in her Lancaster House speech on 17 January to achieve a deep and special partnership between the UK and the European Union.</p><p>We are working closely with colleagues across government to make sure that we have a regular dialogue with the maritime and chemicals sectors.</p><p> </p> more like this

The proposals could lead to the creation of new barriers to trade within our Union.
