We have particular concerns in Egypt regarding Article 122 of the Child Law in Egypt and cases involving the death penalty and juveniles. Embassy officials have repeatedly raised Ahmed Saddouma's case with the Egyptian authorities since September 2018 – most recently on 9 May. We closely monitored his appeal and a UK official attended the hearing on 8 June. We welcome the progress made by Bahrain on their reform programme, including the introduction of the new legislation on alternatives to punishment and new proposed legislation on juvenile justice. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2019 answer text <p>Bahrain has brought in new legislation related to alternative sentencing and has already started to implement provisions under this new legal framework. We welcome this positive move in reforming the judicial system. We condemn all discrimination against religious minorities and constraints on their freedom to practise their faith. All religious minorities ought to be able practise their faith without constraints or discrimination. The 2016 Church Building Law represents a step forward in this area, increasing the number of registered churches in Egypt.</p><p>We welcome other positive developments concerning religious freedom, including President Sisi's calls for peaceful coexistence and the Government of Egypt's expression of support for the rights of Christians and for religious tolerance.
