	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/12/2022 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">All asylum claims are considered on a case by case basis and in line with published policy so that individuals who need protection and are granted asylum can start to integrate and rebuild their lives.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">We are committed to speeding up the decision making process, so that we can remove those with no right to be here and focus our finite resources on those in geniune need.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">All asylum claims are considered on a case by case basis and in line with published policy so that individuals who need protection and are granted asylum can start to integrate and rebuild their lives in the UK.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">To further accelerate decision making we are simplifying and modernising our system. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2022 answer text <p>The Home Office has a legal obligation to provide support to asylum-seekers who would otherwise be destitute.</p><p>Those wishing to claim asylum are expected to do so on arrival at the port of entry or, if already in the UK, and their circumstances change, as soon as possible at the Asylum Intake Unit (AIU) in Croydon. These figures are not available in a reportable format and to provide the information could only be done at disproportionate cost.</p><p>Costs are subject to change depending on numbers being accommodated within the asylum system. Accommodation costs are considered to be commercially confidential, therefore the Home Office does not publish this information. Local authorities will also receive £3,500 for each new dispersal accommodation bed space in the 22/23 financial year.
