star this property answer text <p>The government is delivering its commitment to hypothecate English Vehicle Excise Duty to roads spending, and has announced that the National Roads Fund will be £28.8 billion between 2020-25. From this, we expect £25.3 billion to be spent on the Road Investment Strategy 2, which will repair, renew and enhance the Strategic Road Network. The remaining £3.5 billion will be spent on local roads, with major structural renewals eligible for funding.</p><p> </p><p>On top of this, we have allocated £6.6 billion between 2015 and 2021 to local highway authorities in England, outside London, for highways maintenance.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>This Government recognises that maintaining local roads is a key priority for local communities and businesses.</p><p> </p><p>At the last Spending Review, the Chancellor committed £1.125 billion in 2021/22 for local roads maintenance including the £500 million Potholes Fund committed in the manifesto. This represents a £125 million increase on typical annual funding from Spending Review 2015.</p><p> </p><p>Maintenance in London, including repairing potholes, is a matter for Transport for London and the London Boroughs. This Government has supported TfL with c£4bn in emergency Covid support since the start of the pandemic.</p><p> </p><p>We will set out future highways maintenance funding at Spending Review 2021.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>All revenue generated through English VED from 2020-21 onwards will be used to fund the English strategic road network. This will ensure the Government can issue a second Roads investment Strategy for the period 2020-25, to follow the first strategy published at Autumn Statement 2014. Investment in our local road network will be set out as part of the Spending Review.</p><p>In the period before 2020-21, VED revenues will continue to go to the Consolidated Fund which support general expenditure on public services including spending on local roads.</p><br /> more like this
