star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the legislative framework governing the regulation of legal services in England and Wales. However, the direct regulation of the legal profession is independent of Government.</p><p>The Legal Services Act 2007 established that the regulation of the legal profession in England and Wales is to be undertaken by approved regulators, such as the General Council of the Bar, the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and the Law Society of England &amp; Wales, with the oversight of the Legal Services Board. The 2007 Act also requires that an approved regulator’s regulatory functions are exercised independently of its representative functions.</p><p>There are also several other Acts of Parliament, such as Solicitors Act 1974 and the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 which provide these bodies with certain powers, duties and functions to effectively regulate the legal profession.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the legislative framework governing the regulation of legal services in England and Wales. The position is different in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>The direct regulation of the legal profession is independent of Government and the Ministry of Justice does not directly handle complaints about barristers and solicitors. star this property answer text <p>Delivering the deal negotiated with the EU remains the Government’s top priority. This has not changed.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Government must prepare for every eventuality, including a no deal scenario. As we approach 29 March, we have accelerated and intensified these preparations and at the same time, the Civil Service as a whole is working to ensure that EU Exit Implementation is carried out to high quality without impacting public service delivery across the whole of government.</p><p> </p><p>The approximate total number of people working on EU exit across the MoJ is 110. The MoJ EU exit programme includes work on both deal and no-deal scenarios in preparation for the UK exit from the EU.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Jain and Zoroastrian communities of this country have made, and continue to make a positive contribution to life in the United Kingdom. The Government values this contribution enormously.</p><p>When hosting events related to faith and belief, we welcome those from all faith or beliefs or non-belief to participate, including those who identify as Jain and Zoroastrian. In the last two years these included:</p><p>- an annual Diwali celebration with involvement and engagement from Jain staff;</p><p>- Faith and Belief Forums hosted in 2018 which provided an opportunity for all staff to discuss what more can be done to improve the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) experience for all staff of faith/belief and non-faith/belief;</p><p>- panel discussions during National Inclusion Week 2018 and 2019 where support for people of faith was discussed alongside other protected characteristics; and</p><p>- events hosted by our various Faith Networks, which are open to all staff regardless of their faith or belief.</p><table><tbody><tr><td colspan="12"><p>Representatives of the Jain and Zoroastrian faith groups, together with representatives from other faith traditions, were invited to meet Dr Jo Farrar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) on 14 October 2019 to discuss prison chaplaincy work and future meetings with them both are envisaged to discuss the needs for their particular faiths.</p></td></tr><tr><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td></tr><tr><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td><td><p> </p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Her Majesty’s Courts &amp; Tribunals Service (HMCTS) agrees the number of sitting days for each Crown Court with the judiciary on an annual basis which is then periodically reviewed in response to demand. There is adequate capacity at Harrow Crown Court to meet current demand.</p> more like this
