	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/06/2014 answer text <p>Sure Start children's centres statutory guidance was published in April 2013; the web page containing it was last reviewed on 25 March 2014.</p><p>The statutory guidance states the core purpose of Sure Start children's centres is to improve outcomes for young children and their families, with a particular focus on those in greatest need. The Department extensively consulted on draft statutory guidance, including the core purpose, in 2012. The response was positive, with 85% of respondees (local authorities, children's centre managers, voluntary sector bodies and others) finding the document clear on statutory duties.</p><p>As I said to the Education Committee on 18 June, Ofsted is going to be moving to a local-authority-based inspection regime for children's centres and I am very happy to look at the core purpose, particularly in the light of what Ofsted put out as their inspection regime, if there is a lack of clarity.</p><p> </p> answering member constituency South West Norfolk answering member printed Elizabeth Truss question first answered 30/06/2014 15:35:55 answering member 4097 label Biography information for Elizabeth Truss

Government has no role in relation to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) beyond regulation as is applied to all workplace pension schemes by The Pensions Regulator.</p><p> </p><p>Neither the Secretary of State nor the Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation has discussed the USS with Universities UK (UUK) or the University and College Union (UCU). Officials have sought updates from UUK on the latest developments regarding the USS. The target is rightly ambitious and the Department for Education remains committed to working with the rest of government and the sector to driving progress towards achieving it.</p><p> </p><p>This Government continues to support growth in UK education exports, including through the work of the team dedicated to education exports in the Department for International Trade (DIT). They have recently announced the establishment of a DIT Education Sector Advisory Board, chaired by my hon. Friend for Wyre Forest (Bill Esterson), which will support the aspirations of the sector internationally.</p><p> </p><p>The Government actively promotes study in the UK through the GREAT Campaign and through the British Council, which promotes the UK in over 100 countries.
