Friend has addressed his question to the Minister for Women and Equalities, I assume his interest in identity politics relates to Equality legislation which defines different groups of people by reference to their protected characteristics. That being the case, I understand his concern and we need to ensure that equality for everyone on the basis of protected characteristics does not result in micro-divisions in society created by identity politics.</p> more like this

We have established fixed parliamentary terms, successfully implemented individual electoral registration, legislated on MP recall and introduced reforms to lobbying. Changes in the law on succession to the Crown will be commenced across all Realms later this week, and the Bill to fast-track Women Bishops into the House of Lords is expected to receive Royal Assent.</p><p>We have also rolled back some of the previous Government’s infringements on civil liberties, including getting rid of ID cards and ending detention without trial.</p><p> </p> more like this
